Default I declare a natmedtalk jihad on whole foods

Went to the pittsburgh one today. A lot of conventional produce and I looked at a pack of "organic" chocolate chip cookies. It had modified palm oil. Is that a euphamism for trans fat?

Whole foods copt out a long time ago. All the letter writing, all the outrage in the world is not changing them.. They do sell a lot of trash, and expensive trash at that.

It's very hard for the average shopper to tell what's healthy and what isn't, the label info is many times deceptive and confusing.

It's been years since I've even been inside a Whole Foods. All I remember is their extremely high prices. I don't have money to throw out the window like that, get better deals at my local Sunflower Market for natural foods, and the Vitamin Cottage for supplements and foods.

I can usually spot a lot of the scam, but not all of it. Modified palm oil sounds strange. Also, they have a lot of products with canola oil. I avoid that stuff.

I don't buy the Whole Foods brand items after hearing things about what is in them.

I just searched it, modified palm oil is fractionated, not hydrogenated. But you really have to be careful at whole foods. They have soem great stuff, but they have a lot of junk and there is also the cultural aspect: "I shop at whole foods".

When I lived in FL, I would go downtown for the farmers market and stop by this bar for 2 beers on saturdays. One day this lady, probably around 60 with a face lift and wearing expensive clothes was sitting next to and she said "I come down here every sat and have a glass of chardonney and then go to whole foods", I replied, I go there occasionally but it is too pricey to buy everything there. She replied " I only shop there". I kept my cool, but you can guess what I wanted to say!
