Default Coffee is my biggest source of....

SUGAR

And I mean a lot of it. I really want to cut sugar out of my diet altogether because I know that is one of the reasons why I feel the way I do, day in and day out, but when I have my 3 cups of coffee, I load it with sugar. It's a vicious cycle for sure. Ingest coffee to wake up but you just end up needing more.

My wife suggested using honey instead, but I am reluctant because of the taste (I use a lot of non-dairy creamer too and can't imagine mixing the two).

Also I read here that you have to be careful what type of honey you buy. Can anyone provide more info on that? I will try to buy honey locally whenever I can as I do use it in my smoothies.

what about sugar alternatives?

How do you make your coffee? I suppose I could just try liking black coffee, but I want to hear more about what you all use for sugar alternatives and even creamers

Thanks in advance,

Live Healthy,
Chris

It is best to buy local honey as it acts homeopathically to help you overcome local allergies. But best honey is raw (unpasteurized).

I mostly like black coffee, industrial strength. Sometimes I will put stevia in it, but I don't really like the taste. I like stevia better with tea. I like the packets from the NOW brand, called Stevia Balance, because it contains chromium and inulin (a sweet fiber - excellent prebiotic). Each of those will help to balance your insulin. https://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Stevi...110-g/868?at=0 I only use half a packet with each cup when I do use them at all.

I seldom drink more than 2 cups per day anyway. Caffeine is not good for someone who may have weakened adrenals. I feel that I must. When I do drink 2 or more cups, I try to balance that with more vitamin C. Vitamin C is the most desired nutrient of the adrenals. When the adrenals are under stress, your immune system will route vitamin C to the adrenals at the expense of other organs and glands. Also pantothenic acid is second most important for the adrenals.

I have 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning, with non-dairy creamer. I don't use any sugar at all, but if I had to, I'd use a tiny amount of stevia.

I used to think coffee was totally unhealthy, but I was wrong. According to research, it is good for an occasional enema.

Other than that, i would suggest switching to tea. It would take a little time to adjust, however, its a good move.

There are so many great tasting teas, high in antioxidants and low in caffeine, and the best part is you get used to drinking tea without sugar or dairy.

The green stuff is a bit more - planty tasting. I use Organic Stevia from Now foods only because I have read that France sometimes uses a type of HEK293 as flavor enhancement - or, natural flavorings and I don't want any of that.

Well, you know, you might try switching from coffee to green tea.

I find that green tea with lemon (no sugar) tastes good, and it boosts the metabolism and doesn't give you that "crashing" afterward that sugar and caffeine give you.

You can try that.

Whenever I drank coffee it was triple triple (triple cream, triple sugar) so definitely not good. Of course, now I don't drink coffee anymore, and I was always more of a social drinker anyway. (of coffee) I find that since nobody around me drinks coffee that much anymore I don't drink it either. It never really became a custom..

Are you a social coffee drinker?

If you only drink coffee around others who are drinking coffee you might be...

I'm definitely a "need to drink in the morning or else I can't function" type of coffee drinker

I LIKE tea, without anything added to it. I guess it will be a big adjustment but I think it would be worth trying...

I'm not a big fan of the way stevia tastes. I guess that's because I'm addicted to sugar.

I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee for today. I think if I "crave" more I'll see if I can find my tea. I think have some in kcup form.

The honey is sitting right in front me of but I don't have any will to try it - great tip about using local honey to build up against local allergies

Default coffee in the AM

I use soy creamer with no sweetner. Good stuff! also found low acid coffee which helps my acid reflux issues.

Ok so the other day I switched to green tea and I was doing ok. Of course the next day I went back to coffee, but only ONE cup this time around. If I feel like having any more, I'll go to the green tea.

Hmm, maybe I *can* do this

Non dairy creamer is loaded with sugar and trans fats.

I've never had a sweet tooth so I have a hard time understanding peoples need for everything to taste sweet.

I'm the complete opposite. Coffee is pretty much my only source of sugar. Deffinitely need to get that sorted

Update: not doing good on the no coffee thing. I love my coffee too much.

I'll have to check out the food label of the non-dairy that I use.

Actually, I think that right now I will try a cup of coffee with nothing in it. In order to get used to it, I gotta start somewhere right?

I always used to drink my coffee black, now I use heavy cream.

I drink cold brewed coffee. It's lower in acid and fuller in flavor.
