Thanks Marilyn. One thought hit me today. The ICU doc was 2 feet from my dad when she told me he had some kidney failure during surgery. He always said he would rather be dead then go on dialysis and when he heard that, it might of sent him downward faster. Doctors can be real jerks.
One thing keeps popping in my mind. When he came home from the hospital in 09 I started taking him to the gym immediately. First it was just the arm mike then we progressed (along with physical therapy) and he improved in 09, 2010, and especially by last summer (2011). Then he started going downhill and getting a little weaker about 2 months ago. My issue is physical therapy did its job, but takking him to the gym and health foods supplements were huge. Why is so hard for the med system to not to this for people. 6 months, 3x a week aith an associated healthy meal. No deal, but they will spend 10s of thousands on tests and for doctors to say hello for a minute.

I know Saved. It is ridiculous. Sad to say our modern medical system has failed us. You helped your dad so much. He was so lucky. I bet you've helped a lot of people. Don't let the medical system damper your passion for health. Just keeping reaching out to those who need you.

I have friends that listen (with success) and friends that think I am a nutcase who do not listen and have total faith in the med system
I wonder if the insurance company knows that your father's estate will have to pay whatever they do not. I wonder if they know this and are taking advantage of it. They would realize that they will get know more premiums from him. It's hard to know who to trust anymore.

On the 54k, we owe 700 bucks so far, I am expecting other bills. I will keep you informed of associated bills. Basically, the 54k is a total charge of which the hospital forgives around 25-30k and medicare / supplemental pick up most ofthe rest, but they still have to screw you for whatever they can get.
54,000 Dollars that is disgusting, having to pay that much, when your poor dad died, so the hospital should forgive.
Damn Drs are so greedy.
After falling over and breaking my left wrist on Wednesday and having it plastered yesterday at the hospital, that will not cost me anything, and I don't have private insurance, the xrays were taken at the surgery, and then the Dr sent me to the hospital, Had to wait about 3 hours but that was quick compared to how long some of the patients were waiting for in emergency.

We have to pay 700 so far and my guess from talking to people is probbaly no more than 2000. The US med system is greed extrordinaire and since docs only get 3 percent of all med money here, something is out of whack considering any doc in US over 40 is a millionare

Yes, but you have socialized medicine over there, that could never happen here, just look at the chaos that the so called Obamacare is causing...
Here everything is on a state-by-state basis, and a centralized medical system is unfeasible, IMO...
Plus... it wasn't *really* free, you pay it out of your taxes... when we lived there, we paid 49% of income in taxes...
Some people in the US would raise hell if they had to pay taxes so everyone can have medical care, LOL!
