Could the Atkins diet help you keep diabetes at bay?
I've already "liked" this article.
It would be helpful if everyone reading this could do the same and "rate" those posts that show others experience in using low carb diets to better control diabetes.

Lots of people have supported the comments and down rated the cynics but the more people who show active support and who add positive comments the more likely it is The Daily Mail will run similar articles.

So Please don't just read the article, act positively to push for this change in direction.
Usually the comments close fairly shortly after the article was published so ACT NOW.

There was such a tidal wave of people supporting the article that they've taken the comments down but you can still "like" the article AND consider writing to the editor to request the experience of Daily Mail readers is reflected in the comments.

Took my vote. I just don't understand the intellience in figthing this arugement.
Some people's IQ is extremely low I guess. Carbs is sugar, and sugar is bad for diabetics. Period.

That being said, there are a number of testimonials that show that MMS has eliminated diabetes for some MMS users. Makes me think that possibly a pathogen had invaded the pancrease affecting its ability to function correctly. Parasites and pathogens enter other organs and cause disease, so why not the pancrease too?

If you are healthy, not stressed and active your body should be able to process whole grain carbs well enough if they are not taken in excess. Meat and vegetables rule.... and I will include dairy if it is raw and produced correctly. Meat/fish and dairy is where we get most of our fats from.

A family member who was diabetic used to take shots everyday for years. Then she lost weight and lived a low carb life and hasn't had a shot in probably 5 years now.

From what I have read about the Atkins diet that makes perfect sense. Similar to the alcoholic who is consuming way too much booze the diabetic has been consuming way too much sugar. In either case eventually the body is unable to handle this substance overload and it starts to break down.

The cure is simple just change the diet, although for some that maybe easier said then done.

One exception to this is there are a small group of people can not tolerate a high protein diet.

We can increase Coconut oil, butter and animal fats from grass fed outdoor raised animals.
I'd rather people increased fat than protein and thought of Atkins as a higher fat diet.
I also think there is a role for veggies in a low carbohydrate diet. I think we've adapted to living with our gut flora and enabling lean type gut flora to thrive requires some attention to what they thrive on.

I wish I could lose some weight but it doesn't seem to happen for me.
However the last 2 mornings my BSugar readings have been 83 & 82.
Last evening I had a good size salad w/lettuce, tomato, cukes, blackberries,
a small peach, & 1 oz of
cheddar cheese. 1 egg, olive oil & vinegar dressing. The night before I had 3 thin pieces of that party rye
with roast beef & horseradish & a tomato.
I went to bed a bit hungry that night.

If you really want to lose weight it needs to be a long term goal coupled to a change in diet. Whatever excess weight you have, you didn't acquire it over a 2-3 week period nor will you lose it in a short period of time.

The main thing is you don't want to starve yourself or eliminate all foods that you like. Cause if you do you will probably never stay on the diet. So within reason just don't eat as much. (A little will power maybe needed here.) If you want some chocolate cake, fine have some, but not the entire cake only a thin slice just enough to satisfy your taste for it. I happen to like York's chocolate covered peppermints. But I will limit myself to just one of the miniature version and eat it very slowwwwwly.

Get hungry between meals? Stop and eat a little something, but keep it small perhaps half a dozen nuts. You want to fool your body into thinking you are not actually starving it.

I agree with one of the commenter's on the last of this series that managing cortisol levels is a major factor in losing weight. I believe we all suffer too much stress and chronic inflammation results and eating comfort foods exacerbates the problem.
Changing to coconut oil and increasing my fat intake helped me turn my hunger signals off and enabled calorie reduction, intermittent fasting which is something different from the Will power needed for calorie restriction which I'm not very good at.
