Lightbulb Fritters?

A fritters recipe I just saw calls for 1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour.
I don't want to use a white flour, but bran flour instead.
Does anyone know how to make any flour into self-rising?
Would adding baking soda and salt or baking powder make it work?
Thanks for any tips.

For a healthy version, I always use spelt flour. You can also use wholemeal spelt flour depending on recipe. I always use baking powder to make self raising flour. So far no failures. I use 1 tsp sieved together with 1 cup flour. You can try that. Hope this helps.

cheers,

A fritters recipe that I use recently calls for self-raising flour. You can try it. It's a very nice recipe. You can find it here https://tinyurl.com/mzs8n8

Thumbs up Fritters!

Thanks Shalinee, that fritter recipe looks so good. Thanks too for
the baking powder tip; I have some whole wheat flour I want to
use up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained so I'll give it a try.

Earlybird, you're most welcome. I hope your fritters come out great. Let me know whether your homemade self raising flour by adding baking powder works. Enjoy your cooking.

cheers,
shalinee
