longest i went was 4 weeks on cipro. doxy was 2 weeks. avelox 3 weeks.
ceftin 2 weeks even though it was for 4 weeks i stopped it after 2 .....cephalexin 2 weeks and 5 days
tetracycline maybe 5 days , tetracycline which was have an effect then i stopped it after a few days that was very dumb of me. it calmed down my bladder and the burning piss at a time i was peeing like crazy. should have stayed on that. i come off and on antibiotics to much that is why almost nothing works for me. I have made my prostatitis resistant by doing this to multiple drugs.

see it is some times hard to tell if a drug is working or not. could be a placebo effect. but now as bad as my symptoms are i can tell if a drug is working or not. because it will give me erection back and feeling in ejaculation if it kicks in. so that is what I'm looking for.

I may give old doxycycline a try again in the future to see if it has an effect . i took it when i was milder but didn't notice any effect . but now being my symptoms are so bad if it works i will notice it easily.

best advice I can give you and every one dont start and stop and start the same drug over and over again.
for me if i tried the same drug a 4th time around if it once worked the 4 th time around it would not work at all.

some of you that have calcification such as prostate stones
might benefit from magnesium supplementation.
I have been reading it helps dissolve kidney stones it may help with stones in the prostate. as well it is used for many conditions such as heart problems , diabetes , sclerosis, high blood pressure, restless leg syndrome,
severe skin infection caused by strep bacteria , and even helps to prevent hearing loss as well as treat other conditions. once we get rid of our prostatitis we must strive to to the up most to better our bodies,by taking good supplements for the health of our bodies and prostates, if we do not, we may find our selves with this same chronic prostatitis all over again.

The only thing I can say is that the infection does not seem resistant to trim and allicin. Well mine anyway.
I am taking ten allicin a day and its not cheap its costing around 50 a month plus the other enzymes but if I was to get rid of it, it would be worth every penny.
I've wrote on here several times already how I went through night sweats, fevers and very slow urine stream after 4 weeks. Followed by yellow semen. It took at least a week to start settling down and then by 4 weeks I was far better and yellow semen went away. You have to go through this part! stick with it. Start judging whether or not it's working by week 10

Interesting...I used to get night sweats all the time.it came of the blue one month. I'd sweat all night long and this was back in the cold winter and my room was very cold. And I wake up and pillow would be soaked wet.

By the way wanna share a drug I found with people.seems like it is no used much by the urologist but if people suffering could get there doctor to let them try it. it might really help being a different drug all by its self and it hits most of the main organisms but one

its not cheap but to be quite honest there are many antibiotics much higher than this one. price is $330 according to walmart for 2 weeks.

Geocillin

The antibacterial activity of Geocillin is due to its rapid conversion to carbenicillin by hydrolysis after absorption. Though Geocillin provides substantial in vitro activity against a variety of both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, the most important aspect of its profile is in its antipseudomonal and antiproteal activity. Because of the high urine levels obtained following administration, Geocillin has demonstrated clinical efficacy in urinary infections due to susceptible strains of:

Escherichia coli
Proteus mirabilis
Proteus vulgaris
Morganella morganii (formerly Proteus morganii)
Pseudomonas species
Providencia rettgeri (formerly Proteus rettgeri)
Enterobacter species
Enterococci (S. faecalis)

Geocillin is also indicated in the treatment of prostatitis due to susceptible strains of the following organisms:
Escherichia coli
Enterococcus (S. faecalis)
Proteus mirabilis
Enterobacter sp.

seems like people that do find a bacteria are always having either ecoli or

Enterococcus (S. faecalis)

dosage is 2 tabs 4 times a day = 8 pills total a day

It should nail ecoli easily as ecoli is generally sensitive to cillin drugs such as ampicillin or amoxicillin.

another option and I know no one is doing this. Is if you really believe in your heart its an infection. and you think you can guess through research what kind of a shot should hit the thing.
bring in your research and sway your gp to your side and get him to let you go over to the local hospital and get a shot for 3 days. shots are rapidly delivered and much more effective than a pill.

Update on my situation: I've recovered from my injury during prostate massage. It took me about 2 weeks! It just goes to show that a simple injury in that area takes a long time to heal. I was getting scared it wouldn't heal properly but luckily it resolved.

Regarding my prostatitis, I've been feeling better lately: only some discomfort and perineum pain after orgasm. However I ran out of doxycycline (took it for 32 days), and my doctor changed me to Bactrim. I'm on the 1st day of 28.
I keep thinking that maybe I should have continued with doxy for 2 more months if I was feeling better. I guess I found it hard to believe that it would cure me completely if I kept taking it.
I'll do this Bactrim now, and if I start to lose my gains from doxy I might go back to it.

It really sucks that I can't take a fluoroquinolone

Lovelife - I have been taking zinc pretty much daily without any problems. I still have my ups and down days but dont notice anything particular with the zinc. What kind of zinc are you taking - not sure if that makes a difference? I take zinc citrate.

Went to GP earlier. And he done a DRE and I was thinking"oh god I hate this so bad, Oh no here it comes, oh sh*t...) And then he puts his finger in and I'm thinking what the hell it doesn't even barley hurt. And he barley touched my prostate and prostate fluid almost came out my penis

As he leaves the room. I'm thinking what the hell just happened ?
The Dre was not painful that is a first. And he almost made prostate fluid come out of my penis from just barley touching it ??? what the hell lol

Hell first time after I had a prostate massage. The urologist told me set down before you have a heart attack. Because i was breathing hard as hell heart racing 90 miles an hour and I'm and saying oh god, oh god , over and over again .... At first I was against prostate massage because they hurt and they made the sexual functions worse. I think the 2nd massage i had may have actually knocked some gunk out of the prostate, kind of like a person with a stopped up nose that blows it and keep breath better.

I may end up seeking me some more massages and getting me one a week or some thing. Still taking the trimethoprim and am going to stick with it.
It's a very slow progress but I'm so happy I have improved some. I have been on the trimethoprim around 4 weeks and 3 days now. gonna go a a minimum of a good 8 weeks on it. then see how I'm doing at the end of the 8

Folks back again with another update.
Its been two months now.I have moved forward a little form two weeks ago.My gp is being very cooperative with the abx I am telling him about the other stuff I am taking and he thinks I am being very positive and also interested.
I started the metronidazole last week and after the first one I had a an improvement.I know some people on here are not going to agree with me on this but I feel I feel I have to say what is working for me.The trim is still also working but I felt that it was to slow.
I contracted chlamydia twice in the space of four years and both times the doxys did not clear it only helped then the met finished it off.The chlamydia I caught is nothing to do with what I have got now I was just unlucky and caught it twice then I got a new partner and got this.
It must be my body it does not like doxy for some reason with this it also did not do much at all only helped a little but the trim works very well.
This is what I am taking.
allicin max 10 caps.
trim 100mg twice a day.
metronidazole 400mg twice a day for a two week period only.
quercetin twice a day.
bromelain 3 times.
zink.
fish oil caps.
I am also diong the broccoli protocol wich is also helping.

This thing is driving my insane. My wife is being very understanding but I fell awful putting her through this.
Also please excuse my grammer at times.
