BOSTON (AP) — Up to a foot of snow fell in parts of southern New England with the latest winter storm to move through the Northeast, national weather forecasters said Sunday.
The storm began Saturday afternoon and ended by Sunday morning, with some power outages but no reports of critical injuries or major property damage. Dry weather was expected for days in southern New England, although strong winds may chill the bones.
Meteorologist Frank Nocera of the National Weather Service in Taunton, Mass., said southern New England appeared to be the hardest hit.
Six to 12 inches of snow fell in Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut and eastern Massachusetts, including Foxborough where the New England Patriots play. The storm spread over the Northeast and parts of Ohio on Saturday, just days after the regions were hit by another storm that moved in from the nation's midsection.
New York City and Philadelphia saw a mix of rain and snow, and drivers throughout the regions were warned to be cautious. About 20 vehicles piled up in a storm-related chain-reaction crash on Interstate 93 in New Hampton, N.H., police said, and five people were injured.
Officials lowered the speed limit on much of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, about 300 miles from the Ohio state line to east-central Pennsylvania, from 65 mph to 45 mph. Flights at Philadelphia's airport, mostly arrivals, were delayed about an hour, spokeswoman Stacy Jackson said.
In Albany, N.Y., a regional jet skidded into a snow bank at the airport and became stuck, temporarily stranding passengers en route to Chicago. The 66 passengers and four crew members aboard the GoJet Airlines flight, operating as United Express, were put on a bus and sent back to the airport. There were no injuries, and the incident didn't cause any other flight delays, airport authority spokesman Doug Myers said.
In Ohio, Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati saw about 2 to 5 inches of snow by Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

I'm really, really hoping that your weather will be more mild by the last week of May when I will be sampling it myself. Wishing and hoping never worked for me however.

The Andes situation is real scary. I worry about our fresh water throughout the world. Even migration won't help. There's really nowhere that people, especially millions can go. A few years ago, the only water reservoir for the Atlanta GA area was drying up due to drought. They spent very much money to pipe water from a reservoir in North and South Carolina. Southern California could not survive without diverting water from the Colorado river or water from northern California. The Austin Texas area has been in a drought for nearly a decade, yet the population keeps expanding. There's not enough work being done with desalination of ocean waters.

The melting of ice in the Greenland and Iceland area is dumping fresh water into the Atlantic. I suspect this is changing the nature of the Gulf Stream and affecting your climate in UK. The warm/hot Gulf of Mexico is certainly affecting my winter weather in Austin. Yesterday our winter temp got up to 80F (27C), very pleasant for me, but very unusual for winter. We've had a week of that kind of climate. Even the fire ants are constructing their forts, when they should still be deep in the soil. This is a bad omen for another possible record breaking heat for summer.

Last week in May. If I was touring England that would be the week I'd choose, or probably the week before to avoid the Whitsun bank holiday/half-term. The weather is usually very good at that time.
What parts are you going to visit? If you've time, you've got to see the Cotswolds. The heart of England.

Yes, though ironically in the first 2 or 3 months of last year large parts of England were under drought orders! No danger of that this year!

I agree with what you say, water will be the oil of the 21st century. Some places are going have too much, detrimentally so and some places are going to have too little.

The Texas drought has been well reported here. In the short term it means loss of crops, In the medium term it means erosion of the top soil. In the long term, rising population, impoverished soil, decline in food supply and dwindling water resources...Many civilizations in times past have fallen through similar scenarios.

This is true even for the Andes. Recent investigation leans toward such a scenario for the Incas. Machu Picchu was very probably abandoned even before the arrival of the Spanish, perhaps as a result of the Incas' civil war. Or perhaps it was drought that drove the Incas elsewhere.

BTW, I will be renting an apartment in Edinburgh and take day trips elsewhere.

I'll try and relocate the declassified documents I had proving not only that chemtrails are real (easy to do), but that they're for sinister purposes (very hard to find solid proof using "credible" sources).

I'm telling the complete truth here - I tried to edit my above message 8 times and add this to it, but each time it told me I wasn't logged in, and to login, refresh the page and try again. Well, I logged in, refreshed the page and tried again 7 different times...no luck. Luckily I finally managed to post this, but not edit the above. Could be a glitch in the forum. Maybe not. I will say that I've had a lot of fishy incidents like this before, computer refusing to log me on, shutting down spontaenously, etc.

Unfortunately none of this is proof that toxic chemtrails are real; it's easy to prove weather modification is real, but much harder to provide evidence showing the real reasons for it (it's obvious to even a moderately intelligent person, but there don't seem to be that many around these days...but that's by design, too). I DID have the documents proving it, but for all I know they were taken down off the internet since then - I've had em for quite a while.

Sure it is just pure rumor and speculation. So don’t bother looking up patents on weather control, or chemtrails, or China’s claim to control the weather during their Olympics, or the satellite view of the unusual cloud formations in hurricane Sandy just before it made a nice 90 degree turn and headed inland. :wave:

OMG! Right? Like Malaysia DIDN'T order a cyclone to blow smog away!! There are some people on science forums that claim people like me are conspiracy "tards."
(But they talk about the possibility of HAARP using elf waves)
