Daughter's pregnancy

My daughter called me tonite, worried as can be...... She found out that she was pregnant.... but seems there are alot of problems.... Past history, she has two children, is 30 yrs old, and possibly had a miscarriage before the first child, so over 10 years ago...... she recently had another miscarriage in april and had a d&c on may first.. she also had an IUD for about three years, and it was taken out in feb because of irritation(?)
So anyway, she spent alot of time in the emergency room... they told her that she has an anembryonic pregnancy (called it a blighted ovum) In the conversation with her this evening (she is out of state) she also said that the paper work says she has a mass on her left ovary, something about hemmoratic vs infected cyst???? complex endometreosis... ummm another word i didnt understand... was a possoble corpus lutem vs. infected cyst... gardnerella vaginilis........ blood work.... protein 6.4/ creatin 0.8/ bun 13/ sodium 135/potassium 3.8/ chloride 108/ carbon dioxide 21/ calcium 8,6... thats all the info that I wrote down..... if you need anything else... please let me know..... can anyone explain all this too me.....from the way she explained it to me.... they are saying that her body is producing everything for pregnancy, but the fetus pole or something like that is not there..... what are we looking at here... if she doesnt miscarry this baby... will the baby be able to be born alive??? what type of problems are we looking at???? And could all of these problems be the cause of the miscarriage in may... and could all these problems be caused by the IUD????

Gosh I hate the concept of putting this in the other forum..... if ya'll can help me, I would be eternally grateful..... Surely all our wise ones are over here right??????????

Wish I could help, but the only pregnancy and birth I've ever been involved with is my own, and I was a passive participant. It's fairly late, so maybe someone knowledgeable will chime in later tonite or tomorrow.

Well, Ive been involved in quite a few of them, even delivered a baby once... got to see three of my grandbabies being born... but this is all new to me... and with her living so far away its hard to determine whats what.... she is actually talking about coming home so that momma can take care of her..... I know the folks here will pull through for me. daughter is going to another doctor tomorrow and will give me the rest of the info tomorrow night... so I have a bit of time....

It looks to be unlikely that your daughter will carry this pregnancy to term due to foetal abnormalities. So sorry for her.

ok, I have some more questions for you all..... The daughter went to a second doctor, and he told her that he hears a heartbeat (at four weeks?) and they did an ultrasound, and supposedly there is a baby..... This doctor is saying that she needs to just take it easy, and in about a month, will do another ultrasound and bloodwork, and possibly run an amniocentesis (sp)test..... In the mean time, she is having alot of pain. The doctor told her that she has uterine cyst which is a normal thing in pregnant women, that all pregnant women have them when they first get pregnant, and that the cyst would dissappear soon..... I have never heard of this... Is this normal, or does she have a really bad doctor????? So, the daughter wants to know if there is anything that she can take to help get rid of the cyst???? Any body have any ideas..... Its a shame we dont have a midwife on the board.... I wish I could find one in her area..... She is already talking about wanting to do a home birth, and wants me to go up there for the last couple weeks of her pregnancy...that way... when she starts getting weak and wanting an epideral, momma can be the gritch and not allow her to have it.....The first granddaughter was born with a midwife, the second at the hospital... So we are familiar with midwifes, and enjoyed those deliveries so much more.... Looking for a midwife in Indiana.... If anyone can give me any info, I sure would appreciate it.. First things first tho... How does she dissolve the cysts?????

Your daughter is human, but otherwise, the first thing I would recommend is high doses of vitamin E (say, 1600 iu a day). It has a way of balancing out estrogen effects. Selenium as a synergist could be of use as well.

But my patients are sons of bitches... and their sisters, too. :wink:

It's still something to try, though. :roll: No harmful effects. :?

(This is based on the latest info you gave that she IS pregnant with a living baby, not an anembryonic one as you mentioned earlier.)

Many women go for a routine ultrasound or pelvic examination early in their pregnancy and come away with the surprise finding of an ovarian cyst. Usually, this cyst comes from the corpus luteum. After an egg is released from the ovary, the corpus luteum is responsible for making the hormone progesterone. It is this hormone that prepares the uterus for pregnancy.

A typical corpus luteum is round and fluid-filled and can range in size from less than two centimeters (about an inch) to six centimeters or more. On ultrasound, a fluid-filled (cystic) structure greater than three centimeters is technically classified as an ovarian cyst, even though it may well represent a normal finding.

Ovarian cysts usually don't cause any symptoms. In fact, corpus luteum cysts appear toward the end of the menstrual cycle, last into early pregnancy, and then usually resolve over a period of time without any special treatment.

You all are such great help, I really do appreciate the information.... So we still have a baby. They are seeing the heartbeat on the ultrasound, but havent heard it yet.. I made a mistake up there......

The daughter is having alot of trouble with nausea.... Cant cook anything without getting sick, and at this point the only thing she is able to keep down is mashed potatoes and french fries (uggggg!!!!) She has lost ten pounds in two weeks..... She tried ginger snaps and ginger ale, but says that burns her throat.. (indigestion??) the doctor prescribe reglan, but by the time I finished reading off some of the side effects, she wont take it... Someone suggested a chiropractor, I talked to ralph, and he said that it wouldnt hurt.... Are there pressure points that would help her with this? Which is it, b6 or b12 that helps with nausea.... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated....
I was gonna start a new thread, but that doesnt make sense to me... Xania, can we just change the title of this thread to pregnant daughter... Gee, shes talking about coming home, and having the baby here... Even talking about doing a home birth. That would be neat.... I have been blessed to see three of my grandchildren being born... (well two actually one of those three, I was on my knees praying that God stop the bleeder, which thankfully He did!!) would love to see another one being born... makes being a grandmommom so much more special!!!!! Just me, I can give you a pic of where there is an acupuncture point often used in nausea. It is two finger-widths above the wrist crease, on the forearm, between two tendons. The two tendons are most easliy felt at the wrist and can be followed up from there - in some people they are not easy to find so just go to the midline. Apply fairly firm pressure with something like the tip of a pencil. Keep the pressure applied for up to 10 minutes, and repeat as required during the day. It is a symptomatic treatment for the relief of nausea. - There is no reason to use it at any other time.

thank you Xania.... and you werent wrong yet.... Im still holding my breath... She is almost at the stage that she was at when she miscarried in Feb. so... she is trying to be very careful..... all we can do is do our best and then just pray for Gods will to be done.

Hey, just me,

Ginger snaps and ginger ale give me severe heartburn, even when I'm not pregnant. Although, ginger "capsules" work wonders! B6 is also supposed to help with nausea. Hope all goes well with your daughter's pregnancy. Maybe she could buy some fresh ginger and make it into a tea?! Ginger is the only substance that has "cured" my nausea from motion sickness. I have tried everything on the market since I was a child and ginger is the only thing that works. Ginger works for any type of nausea!

Instead of just going after one or several points to control nausea, why not balance the whole energy meridian system?! It might even help solve all the problems she's suffering.

The pregnancy cysts are news to me, but thinking about it, I wouldn't be surprised at all, if I had one in my second pregnancy. For a while I felt 'sore and tender' inside. I thought at the time it was the egg imbeding into the womb, but I have not felt that way with my other two.

Just me, I hope all goes well for your daughter. My sister in law has just had a baby girl (already has 3 boys). The start of her pregnancy was very difficult, she was bleeding at one point, and in pain. The baby was born early yesterday morning, and is as healthy as can be.

She is going to a chiropracter this week, and I hope that will help her some... She lost another three pounds this week... which is normal for her, but her doctor dont like it....

I picked up some selenium and vit e and candy ginger and a few other things... now if I can just get to the post office.

I told her about the evening that you and I exchanged emails when I was feeling so sick... and that you sent that page to me, and how it did wonders for me.... So I am hoping that she is doing it... I havent talk to her this week, so hopefully I will be hearing from her this weekend. thanks for the info so.....I think everyone should keep that 123 page handy right on their computer desktop.... Ive got it on the middle of mine.
