Lordy, it's only mid June and I'm already sick to death of this
hot and horribly dry weather. :(
It's Not even actually Summer yet :!:

When it was cooler, my little 11 year old Jack Russell was doing my full 3 mile walk. Now, he's lucky to make a mile.

Smart Dog!

I'm not at all surprised, Iggy :!: Smart Dog, IMO :!:
Be sure to take some water with you on your walks.
It's easy to get dehydrated in these hot temps.

Yes, here in the northern california foothills it is already
making like summer. In the last two days we have had
power outages, one for 4 hours and the next for 3 hours.

Doesn't look good for the coming months.

Summer heat!

No, it sure doesn't! :(
We're 8in below normal rainfall since March this yr.
Our grass out front looks more like Aug. than mid June.
I've water the ornamental trees several rimes so as not to
lose them, but use my bath water to water my few plants
in pots on a daily basis. They dry out so quickly.

Hot weather can be deadly

Yes, people struggle from that, especially senior ones. I've read that "during ten years from 1992 to 2001 over 2190 people in the U.S. died from excessive heat".

But the "bad record" year was 1980 when 1700 people died in Chicago and the Midwest due to excessive heat

Hay! A new face. :D Welcome.
Current Chicago land temperatures have been running mid to high 80’s, but cooling off at night. Haven’t run the AC yet.

Temps!

You're lucky, Mad Sci. 8)
We were fine for awhile, until the humidity built up. I was
able to open my windows for 2 nites w/temps in low/mid 50's,
but rest of the time it's been canned air.
The only positive is my one tomato plant has produced 3
small tomatoes. :D
My area is Still waiting for some rain. It just seems to rain all
around us. :?
