I purchased some xylitol for making my own toothpaste but then learned that Dr, Russell Blaylock the author of "Excitotoxins: A taste that kills" says that xylitol is an excitotoxin that kills brain cells along with aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. I was bummed when I learned this. Can't there be anything that isn't controversial causing us to always wonder what will help or harm us?

Does Blaylock list any references? I do not believe him.

Here is some interesting information about excitotoxins to dispel the controversy.

For organic and natural sweeteners, we recommend agave nectar, raw organic honey, stevia or xylitol.

Cool

I use only Stevia as a sweetener or once in a great while a bit of honey.

Xylitol is also a compound that your own body manufactures in small amounts.
I need to see Baylocks proof before I buy this one.
