Hello Doc Dinesh,

Seems we have gotten off to a rough start but I do want to welcome you to the forum.
Now that I see that you are from India it does clarify some things perhaps, in my mind, about you.

Perhaps you are not aware of the battle that rages in the USA between the alternative practitioners and the allopathic doctors. We stand on the precipice of loosing much freedom here to think and act for ourselves, to protect ourselves nutritionally, to heal herbally, to use homeopathy.

Medical doctors in our nation are woefully undereducated in nutrition. They use drugs and surgery and that is mostly it. Those who are integrated and educated in alternative cares are very few and far between and not available to the general public who rely on insurance our even out of pocket payment.

I am aware of some of the splendid work being done in India and perhaps in time they will role model for the world the true capacity for integrated medicine.

By profession I am a nurse. I have known many doctors in the USA, worked by their side and have watched them practice and watched them destroy lives. I have also watched them dedicatedly work to help people past some very critical and frightening health issues.

My conclusion after 27 years in this work is that they do not understand the needs and nature of true healing. They view the body as a machine and try to repair it as such. In this approach, they loose many. There is now a real battle going on in our nation due to the damage that drug therapy has caused. New levels of crippling and deadly disease are present and spreading through communities, created within hospitals and now transferring through the general public. We have Candida, MRSA, C-diff, psuedomonias and other mysterious infections, Autism and a multitude of behavioral disorders, Asthma, increasing allergy diseases, and drugs being forced down the throats of very small children.

Whats their latest? The use of statin drugs on 2 year olds? OMG!

Not only are the therapeutics that are learned and practiced here deadly, much has been done to stifle the truth, to withhold information, to maintain ignorance and to financially ruin or imprison those who would speak and practice the truth. Over the last 50 years leading physicians and researchers and practitioners of alternative medicines who have endeavored to speak out, to truly heal, have been run out of the country and have been fully ruined. These practices have been promoted and condoned by the AMA, with their first initiative against Homeopaths, then Chiropractors, then Naturopaths. Still Naturopaths can only practice legally in about 12 states. Homeopaths are only fully legal in a few states, where individual states have mandated dictates and guidelines of practice and education for them.

Many times over the years I have had to turn to "illegal" practitioners to protect myself and my children from the ravages of drugs that pediatricians would have inflicted upon them if I allowed it. Fortunately there are homeopaths who venture and risk all to help people. Now my children are perfect pictures of health. I cringe to think of what would have happened to them if I left them to the hands of the allopaths. I know first hand, having been a pediatric nurse for 15 years, the devastation they bring to children with their steroid injections and inhalers, their antibiotics, their deathly vaccinations, their crappy baby forumulas. They know how to CURE nothing.

Now the pharmaceutical industries are endeavoring to take away individual rights and liberties for individuals to make private decisions on the vitamins and minerals they choose to use. Few physicians are skilled and trained in this and individuals have had to educate themselves to protect and heal themselves. Before too long I suspect we will go the way of Canada, and our rights to purchase products will be removed, ruining the lives and livelihoods of countless hundreds of thousands, if not millions. We will be controlled by a pharmaceutical lobby who has brought to us the likes of vioxx and countless other drugs that maim and kill. We have politicial leaders who have vested interest in pharmaceutical companies and that have torn protective walls down resulting in the poisioning of millions solely for greed, for profit.

I have been a part of this forum since its inception. I have very strong views and there are others here who also have similar views. In many ways many of us here are survivors of a battle to survive in this allopathic drug infested society. I do hope we can find ways to learn from each other.

Sincerely,
Arrow

Hello Arrow,

Yes I know about Codex and how it is spreading like the Plague. It is terrible what has become of medicine in the west. Situation here in India is more complex but we have our troubles too.

I appreciate nurses more than you would imagine, there have been many occasions when nurses have given insight that I would have been without and there is much to be admired about the profession. In North America there are many nurses who have been placed into clerical roles, far away from direct patient care. That is regrettable of course.
You may know that we have a system in India where doctors can be licensed by schools that are not academically accredited but teach acceptable clinical medicine. These doctors are needed to treat the poor people. Many of them and many upper class doctors use many types of natural healing and the animosity between strict "scientific" physicians and others is almost negligible.

I am happy you mentioned statins for children, it is very sad and really an affront to humane medicine.

Are you familiar with Ayurvedic (आयुर्वेद) Medicine?
It is very big and we resist the drug merchants from overseas as much as we are able to.

Doc Dinesh,

I am familiar with Ayurvedic medicine. I use to share a house with a woman who studied it with a practitioner named Dr Ladd who is very well known in Ayurvedic circles in this country. I went to him once. He gave me little herbals that looked like rolled dung pills.

I understand that Mother Theresa was a homeopath. Although I realize Ayurvedic medicine is quite different my understanding is that homeopathy is widely practiced in India and you likely know of it? I purchase my homeopathic remedies directly from India. They come wrapped in hand stitched muslin. When they first arrived they sat on my table for a week before I could open them, they were so beautiful. To think that someone hand stitched those 3 packages!

Are you familiar with Dr Sahni? I have communicated with him a few times. He is a very kind and generous man who practices medicine in India.

You may like to read my little case history of a homeopathic cure I placed on my blog here. In the toolbar on the top of the page you will find the link to blogs.

So perhaps you would like to elaborate on the main principles of Ayurvedic medicine for I really have no structural concept of what it is and how it is done. I think others here may be interested also.

I have been instructed that there are only 3 true pathways to cure in the world - those being Homeopathy, Acupuncture and Ayurvedic medicine. That is, aside from direct healing from God.
It would go well in the general discussions thread.

A few thoughts from my archives:

Among the many methods of preserving health in Ayurveda, the one that stands out is Sage Patanjalis Yoga Shashtra, the science of Yoga. Unlike what is sold by the new age gurus, original Yoga had eight wings: rules for day- to-day living including diet, the art and ethics of living, regular exercise menu, the all important breathing method-pranayaama, detached outlook towards life, yogic postures for constant ease to enable one to practice the next steps of dhyaana-concentration, tranquility of mind, and the ultimate realization of the impermanence of life to make man fearless even in the face of death. Thus defined, Yoga becomes a way of life and not just a few contortions of the body for an hour or so daily. Yoga, in its true form, is a way of life. Ayurvedic medicine is superior to conventional western medicine, there is little doubt.
_______________________________________

A distinct philosophy in Ayurveda is that every disease begins in our thoughts (consciousness) and grows in the body. Genetic contributions are very clearly understood, in addition. The concept is holistic and never reductionist. Man is a part of the Universal consciousness, the environment and even the stars are supposed to have a role to play. Modern medicine is just trying to grapple with the role played by the mind in serious illnesses. Science, especially quantum physics, seems to be going into the new realm of human consciousness. Germany's Werner Heisenbergs Uncertainty principle and Ervin Schrodingers Cat Hypothesis point in that direction. Recent studies of patients revived after cardiac arrest and those undergoing brain surgeries have pointed to the possibility of human consciousness (mind) outwith the brain in every single human cell. This all-pervasive consciousness has been the hallmark of Ayurvedic thinking.

Thank you for that contribution, Doc Dinesh.
As a practitioner of TCM, I am fully in tune with your comments and with the structure of Ayurvedic thought, which seems so similar in many ways to TCM.
I often wonder about the origins of both those systems of medicine and living - how many thousands of years ago did they start. Where.? By whom?

Maybe that 's a little too far back in time for our brain-washed, Western ways of seeing the world!

Ayurveda is really quite interesting. Does anyone know if they teach it on Bribie Island, off the coast of Australia?
