Default Coconut Water- replacing electrolytes during a workout

I've discovered that instead of energy drinks, if I drink a cup or two of coconut water DURING a workout, that ultimately I am able to push my body harder and be able to maintain aerobic exercise for longer periods of time, especially while running.

Just thought I'd share! Has anyone else had experience with coconut water?

Coconut wate ris an excellent source of potassiuma nd a decent source of magnesium with just a little sugar in it. Definitely a great summer refresher.

I agree. I love coconut water. Do you get yours from a fresh raw coconut?

Ever since I tried it from a fresh coconut, I can't stand the carton ones. Instant refreshment! My boss in the shop I worked in in Brighton was obsessed with them.

I'm not sure if all the cartoned coconut waters are pasteurized, but at least some of them are. Fresh coconuts are pretty widely available now. Don't be intimidated! They're easy to cut open with a cleaver. Cut the top off until you reach the eye. Buy the green ones or if husked, the white ones, they have the water. The dark brown ones are older and have the hardened coconut meat for grating.

More refreshing and thirst quenching than water!

I saw on a TV show that Consimer Labs tested numerous brand name coconut waters, and they all fell short in providing the ingredients on the label, mainly electrolytes. Zico was the only brand that tested very well, and had all the electrolytes, etc. promised on the label. It is "flash" pasteurized.
