    • 1 Wear thin medical gloves during the filling process. Fill the capsules in an as near to sterile environment as possible, by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces that the capsules or contents will touch.
      \n
    • \n
    • 2 Scoop up some of the substance to be encapsulated into one side of the gelatin cap. Place the opposite end of the capsule into the substance and scoop up some of the powdered contents as you move it toward the first, filled end of the capsule.

    • 3 Push the two capsule ends together. There is a larger diameter side and a narrower side. They are designed to fit snugly together in an overlapping fashion.

    • \n
    • 4 Push the two ends together, letting some of the substance act as a natural lock on the two capsule ends. Due to the tight space between the capsule ends, if a little of the filling substance gets stuck between them, it will only secure the capsule.

\r\n \r\n The only powders I take are Chlorella, and L-Glutamine sometimes. The L-Glutamine tasted good, actually just let a small amount dissolve under my tongue.

\nThe Chlorella, I shake aound 1 inch of juice in a small covered glass jar, and drink it fast. I throw in more juice, shake the empty jar, and drink that...it\'s not too bad.

\nI\'ve tried filling capsules by hand in the past, too much hassle for me, and my dose usually exceeds what would fit in one capsule anyway.\r\n

\r\n \r\n I\'ve been filling my own capsules for years.
\n
\nIt is important to buy non GMO powders from a reliable company. These powders should be organic, and should not contain any fillers or lubricants. Then get some size 00 kosher empty capsules. I buy from capsule connection (3000 capsules for about $40)
\n
\nYou can premix the dry powders into a bowl or container, then fill the capsules. I find it just as fast to fill one capsule at a time as opposed to using the "24 at-a-time" machine.
\n
\nI do not suggest wearing latex gloves, however, washing hands before and during production is necessary. And some powders, such as 95% curcumin, are going to stain everything it comes in contact with, including clothes, hands, etc., and I would suggest using an old dish towel or something you can discard after you\'re done making the caps.\r\n

\nI used to hate the taste, but took it anyway because of the benefits. Within a few weeks it became palatable, and then delicious. All concentrated green foods are an acquired taste.
\n
\nI always recommend just putting up with the nasty taste for a few weeks, because after that you\'re forever free from having to make accommodations like putting it in capsules. You think chlorella and spirulina are bad, try sprout and weed juice! Algae tastes like a gourmet meal by comparison
\n
\nAfter your tastebuds have adapted to "hardcore" foods like these, you\'ll have the added benefit of losing any cravings you might have for bad but tasty foods. Don\'t be a slave to your tastebuds.They adapt in a matter of weeks, so there\'s really no excuse for being lazy and finding ways to avoid tasting things.

\nThat\'s just my two cents. If you still want to go with capsules that\'s fine, but my experience has shown me that people very quickly adapt to strong tastes like that of algae ad quickly start craving them, but if you try not to taste them you\'ll always dread the taste.

I know, that is a pain. You could blend it I suppose, but what I normally do is just mix it in fairly well with a spoon, then let it sit for anywhere from 30 minutes to a fewq hours depending on the temperature. It\'s normally mostly mixed in if you let it sit for long enough, although if you let it sit for hours on a hot day it gets this weird bitter-sour taste. The few times I\'ve made that mistake I still drank it and I\'m still alive

Chlorophyll has tons of benefits, but chlorophyll supplements are isolated and sometimes extracted with dubious chemicals, although organic probavbly wouldn\'t be (never looked into it). I\'d go with chlorella just becase it\'s a whole food that not only has chlorophyll but also vitamin c, b, lots of carotenoids, zinc, iron, a wide spectrum of rare trace minerals, and even rarer nutrients like the unique CGF [chlorella growth factor] and tons of nucleic acids. It\'s also quite good for detoxifying heavy metals, although people with extreme (clinical) heavy metal toxicity should avoid it.

\nChlorella and spirulina also have special polysaccharides that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria; spirulina is one of the only ssources of the essential fatty acid GLA and the pigment that gives it it\'s bluish color, phycocyanin, is a powerful antioxidant and may have anticancer properties. I could talk for hours about algae.

Unlike spirulina and chlorella, you can buy it as a frozen liquid rather then a freeze-dried or spray-dried powder, so all of the nutrients are intact and it\'s brimming with life energy absent from powdered algaes. I\'ve taken spirulina and chlorella for quite some time, but when I added AFA to my diet it was AMAZING! It made my diet complete. I take 1 oz of AFA after my tray of wheatgrass in the morning, which gets my day off to a dynamite start...pure rocket fuel! \r\n \r\n That\'s the stuff. It can lose nutrients very quickly out of the freezer, so you want to thaw only as much as you\'re going to take immediately and then return the rest to the freezer for another day,

\r\nAlso something I want to clarify - when I talk about algae I also mean the various seaweeds like kelp, dulse, wakame, etc. They have nutrients that even the freshwater algae (spiraling, chlorella and AFA) don\'t, including EVERY trace mineral and many unique nutrients. You should eat 1-2 tbsp of raw seaweed at least 5x/week, although you can also have 3-4 tbsp a day and/or have seaweed everyday. The 1-2 tbsp 5 times a week is a minimum for good health. I\'ve had considerably more than that for short periods of time and done fine (I experiment on myself alot). Enough can\'t be said about the importance of trace minerals in the diet, and eating a variety of sea vegetables on a frequent basis will ensure you get them all.

\r\nThe one caveat is if you have hyperthyroidism or hyperthyroid tendencies, in which case excessive intake of sea vegetables may do more harm then good.

\r\nAlso make sure you consume lots of alkaline-forming foods to balance it out, because despite the large quantities of alkaline minerals in them sea veggies seem to tend towards promoting acidity. But only slightly, so it\'s no problem as long as you eat a predominantly alkaline diet. I have no problem with them because I drink so much alkaline green juice, I find they\'re actually good for balancing what could otherwise become an overly-alkaline diet!\r\n

It does unfortunately, I\'d definitely use a lot more of it if it was cheaper. But it is still a great bargain for the benefits it gives you.

\r\nIf someone\'s on a strict budget and wants to get the most bang for their buck, I always recommend sprout and microgreen juice, wheatgrass juice in particular. If you buy in bulk you can grow a tray of wheatgrass for as little as 10 to 50 cents. Now THAT\'S a bargain. Since wheat berries and other grains are so cheap, rejuvelac is also very cost effective and has staggering benefits. Anyone who says they can\'t afford to eat healthy is plain wrong (possibly unless they\'re on food stamps), because a meal of fresh, vital, living, sprouts costs far less then fast food. I can eat a meal of sesame sprout yogurt for under a dollar, and it\'s loaded with probiotics, enzymes, b vitamins, vitamin e, iron, calcium (one of the best sources of calcium there is), and many trace minerals. It\'s still under a dollar even if I throw some spirulina or kelp powder in there and mix it in, and now you\'re talking serious nutrition that would take the average person weeks of eating to match.

Maybe, maybe not. It seems like a good portion of that might be b12 analogues, which aren\'t usable by the human body. BUT, a long time ago I had very low b12 levels, started using spirulina, then had a blood test and my levels were through the roof. But I don\'t know if the tests mistake analogues for actual b12 or not. Never really worried about it, if you clean your digestive tract out really well and have lots of fermented foods you should able to make your own no problem.\r\n

\r\n \r\n I take a few things in powder form, l glutamine, sea veggies and recovery. I mix them all together in a little bit of orange juice every morning and just shoot it back like its tequila! Doesn\'t taste that good but I have definitely shot back worse things lol Done in 2 seconds and on with my day.\r\n

Default Loose powders: Chlorophyll, spirulina, amla

What can I do with them? They taste just awful in juice/water. Doesn't really mix well at all no matter how long I stir or shake.

Should I just get capsules and stuff them?

Any ideas?
