Default Effects of only taking Half-dose of daily multivitamin?

Hello friends,
This is my first post in the forum, and I would like to thank you for reading and for your help.

When it comes to daily multivitamins, for me, the issue is quite simple: I don't want to take unnecessary risks.
I believe (based on studies) that megadose multivitamins (those that exceed 100% of the daily value) are very risky. (You may think differently, but you do so at your own risk.)

Even products that "only" have 100% of the daily value doses seem dangerous to me. I would take them if I didn't have to eat anything during the day. But I do eat during my day.

For example:
Let's say a product has 100% of the Daily Value of Folate (Folic Acid), which is 400 mcg. I am a vegan, and usually I eat daily (say) half a cup of lentils. That's already almost 200 mcg folic acid in just that half cup. If I took even the "safe" dose of 100% (400 mcg) of Folic Acid through a multivitamin, I would immediately be exceeding the recommended daily value. And this is a big risk to take:

In one study conducted in Norway, which doesn't fortify foods, supplementation with 800 mcg of folic acid (plus B12 and B6) daily for more than 3 years raised the risk of developing lung cancer by 21%. Another, in which men took either folic acid or a placebo, showed those consuming 1,000 mcg of folic acid daily had more than twice the risk of prostate cancer.

The same applies to many other vitamins and minerals (especially iron; talking a multivitamin that contains iron is very risky, unless you're a premenopausal woman). So I do not wish to take a multivitamin that exceeds the daily value of vitamins (it's a risk I am not willing to take).
As I am vegan, I need to (at least) take supplements of vitamin B12. But I would like to take a multivitamin, that includes B12, which could work as a basic "health insurance", provided that it is safe.
In the market, even the safest multivitamins have doses that are, to my mind, not ideal (as I said before, even if they only have 100% of the Daily Value of vitamins, that would only be safe if I didn't eat at all during my day).

Would taking only half a dose of a multivitamin be a good idea for me? That is my question. I would like to know if taking half-dose has the same effects (or, more precisely, half the effects) as taking the whole dose. Is there any good reason to take more than half of the multivitamin?
Would I have any problems in absorving (some of) the vitamins if I take less of them? And would I, by only eating half of a daily multivitamin per day, be able to fight free radicals (or get the other general benefits of taking a whole multivitamin)?
Thanks very much for your information.
