Default multivitamin or not?

I recall reading a few articles a little while ago about how multivitamins aren't absorbed in most people and they are more of a waste of money. The hard pills just don't absorb like capsules, gels, ...etc

So I just stopped taking multivitmains after reading a few articles, but every now and then I keep reading about people who recommend multivitamins.

I was surprised when I ran across this video on what Dr. Oz takes and he only takes (multivitamins, fish oil and vitamin D)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKU0MkqNAN0

I was just surprised to see that he takes it, because normally I've seen him try to prove things are myths and was surprised he takes them himself.

Do you guys take multivitamins?

I take a multi-vitamin/mineral almost everyday. The only thing I've changed is now I buy capsules or softgels only, I try to avoid tablets because I thing they are compressed when produced and don't dissolve very well in the system. Presently I'm taking 'Country Life' daily total one, iron-free.

I take other supplements also like D3, Omega 3 fish oil, B-complex, Magnesium, etc., etc., etc., etc................

Yes I take one. Several of our foods are depleted from their natural nutrition. Even the organic foods still don't have the natural sources like it used to. You have to take a multivitamin that dissolves in your small intestine that is where the body absorbs it the most. You can tell a good supplement by the color of your urine. If it changes color then that means that your body is absorbing it.

I thought the color of your urine was only based on the B complex or more B2 that would change your urine color, but would that be a good way to determine if it's a good supplement if it's high in b complex, but lacking other vitamins?

I've been seeing some Whole Food Multivitamins lately, which I honestly never heard of them before.
I guess it's from raw food instead of synthetic materials, which some people think is better? I can't seem to find much about if it's hype or if the whole foods vitamins are actually much better.

B vitamins are most commonly known for turning your urine a different color. Other supplements will do that as well. That is how you know you are taking a water soluable vitamin.

It can vary on the company. They could be loading it up with a lot of B2 or other B vitamins and lacking others like you stated. The only way to know is what the bottle says. The one that I take has a combination of vitamins and minerals. Then the capsule is made with alfalfa, kelp and some other vegetables so that way I'm not getting synthetic forms of any of them.

Im going to buy a Rainbow Light Multivitamin (seem to be easier on the stomach), Fish Oil, and Probiotics. My friend also suggest for me to start taking Shatavari for female health.

Any thoughts on the composition of multivitamins? My nutritionist/personal trainer told me that "natural" vitamins are easier to absorb compared to synthetic vitamins. She recommended something like Now brand products.

Any opinions? Thanks
