Default obtaining health insurance quotes

Hello, thankful for this forum!

I am just now attempting to obtain health insurance quotes (individual). I have found myself very confused about all of the different plans.

My question is:
Should I call and inquire to the different insurance companies for their rates and plan information? The common sense answer would be, "of course you should".

But, I have heard that insurance companies contribute information and history on people to a database similar to a credit report.

So, is it true that the last company I call for a quote with will be able to see what other companies I have obtained quotes from.

And furthermore, would that mean that if I decided to change insurance companies in a few years, they will be able to see what claims I might have made and so forth? I would much rather them get information about me through my medical file than some system the insurance companies use to share information.

Thanks for your time and advice!

A good place to start is here https://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ You can only buy health insurance that is registered in your State. That is why that link is a good place to start. They keep no personal info, until you get your choice through them. The don't seem to show Humana, so that might be one where you do a specific query for a quote.

According to Obamacare, previous health conditions or current health conditions no longer matter to insurance companies. This is in relation to preexisting conditions. So, insurance companies don't share claims. They are highly competitive, so they won't be helping their competitors. Mostly, quotes are competitive as well, but in relation to what services they offer. You will see that they are all similar in price. It's the service that makes the difference. One insurance company will not tell another that you have requested a quote.

Thanks!

I'm just so confused because there's all these differences (which there should be, and I anticipated) between each company and their specific plans.

That's why I wanted to contact each company and present scenarios to understand how I would be covered. It's hard to do that with a quoting website...

I'm just overwhelmed by all the terminology, options, PRICE, etc..
