Default Need help body is in so much pain/Fibro/extreme fatique/some latent viruses EBV, HSV2

Hi all,
I am glad I found this site. I have been reading on here most of the morning and think I may have found a really supportive forum. As a child I had JRA brought on by a serious strep infection in the blood stream which crippled me for about a year with massive abx therapy. In the more recent past pre 1999 I had been diagnosed with candida, did the Dr. Crook diet and nystatin but could only hold on for a month or so. Had laser for growths in my throat at that time. Fast forward to 2001 I was diagnosed with Fibro (which I remained in denial about), Ehler's Danlos type III which affects my joints as well, and just overall exhaustion. I Started to see my chiro which helped a bit but has horrible back/leg pain that would not resolve. In 2003 an mri was finally ordered on my back and they found a tumor in the spinal canal which involved surgery laminectomy L-2-L-3. and a brain tumor (meningioma) which I had radiated in May,2004. Did I say I was attempting to raise my 4 sons during this time? After my surgeries, I acquired mono but since I was so tired anyway never noticed. In 2005 my primary care doc send me to an infectious disease doc who found CMV, EBV, and HSV2. He said well maybe you now know why you have been so tired. Now this Oct I found a lump on my breast which is being followed, and in Dec they were doing a ct scan and found an unspecific nodule in my right lung (recheck next Dec.)

Anyway I have gotten to the point the pain in my muscles and bones has overcome me many times, and I feel very bewildered. I want to reclaim my life. One doctor wants to do prolotherapy on all of my joints for laxity, one wants to treat this another that...I do not take any painkillers due to the fact that my residual tumor prevents it (I get sick to my stomach), which is probably a good thing I really am not taking anything at this time besides Vit D as my levels are really low, bio progesterone, and testosterone, and armor thyroid in the am. Anyone having similar experiences? Overcomers? Also what is MMS? I believe I have seen it in capsule form for muscles and joints?

I know this is alot but just looking to feel better....

Thanks,
Debbie

Hello Debbie, welcome. I'm sorry to hear you're suffering with so many health issues. The only things I can recommend is Magnesium Malate for the Fibro pain and discomfort. An older friend of mine used it and found relief. She used the Source Naturals brand, highest dose.

Also, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a joint sulfur for connective tissue and healthy cartliage. It eases inflammation, therefore relieving pain.

Thanks so much for the reply kind2creatures I was wondering if you might also have suggestions for a multi vit as well. Does your friend still have relief? I was telling my husband I think today I just need to stretch and be kind to myself...rest. I think the hardest thing to deal with is the guilt with what I feel I am missing out on (life). But again thanks for the welcome!

I've been studying the use of guaifenesin in fibromyalgia. I did not know it could have anything to do with the symptoms. Guaifenesin is the component in Mucinex and expectorants. Actually, that is the only place I can find guaifenesin isolated, in Mucinex. If you are in the USA, you can find it at any pharmacy, even Walmart.

Apparently it helps to expel phosphates. Here is some info https://www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com/GuaiProtocol.htm

And here are truths and myths of the role of guaifenesin in fybromyalgia from MIT. https://web.mit.edu/london/www/guai.html
Quote:
In 1996, before the study was published, I went to a library, and quickly discovered that guaifenesin has a skeletal muscle relaxant property, a fact that people in the fibromyalgia community were not aware of. Surprisingly, anyone could have easily discovered this fact if they looked up guaifenesin in the Merck Index, a drug handbook, which lists guaifenesin as having this effect. Guaifenesin has known neurological effects, but most doctors are unaware of this, because it is no longer used in humans for this effect. However, it is used for this effect in veterinary medicine. And a slightly different form of guaifenesin, guaifenesin carbamate, is used in humans as a muscle relaxant, and is sold under the name Robaxin.

The multi I'm using now, and have bought before is Solaray (iron-free) Once Daily High Energy. The other I commonly use is Country Life. https://www.vitacost.com/country-life...with-maxi-sorb. I'm using iron-free since I'm post menopausal.

There are better whole foods multi vitamin/minerals out there, but they're too pricey for me to consider. I do take numerous additional vitamins and supplements daily, in addition to the multi.

My friend unfortunately could not afford to continue buying her own supplements, and has many other health issues. She is on numerous prescription medications now, and is more comfortable with the cost the prescription meds.

Debbie, lose the guilt and be kind to yourself, you don't need any excuses or reasons for it. After all, who's going to love and care for your body and mind more than yourself? With being a mom of 4 children, you've already given very much of yourself to the care of others, and sometimes you may find your own energy and self-determination depleated.

Stretch, relax, quiet time and a long soak in an epsom salt bubble bath will do wonders. Play relaxing music, and schedule if you have to, some alone time...well worth it.

Hi Debbie

Most people with Fibro tend to have low stomach acid which could explain your EBV,CMV, HVS2 and candida. Betaine Hydrochloride and Digestive enzymes will help.

Fibro's have damaged muscle fibres due to either low protein in the diet or low absorption, due to not enough stomach acid to break down the proteins to form the amino acids needed to repair the damaged muscle fibres.
There must be at least 50 mg of protein daily in the diet to help repair muscle fibres, preferably eaten with large helpings cooked vegetables.

I dont know whether this is relevant for people with both EDS and Fibro as EDS is an inherited collagen problem, but it might be worth trying.

Healthy adrenal glands normally relieve pain caused by inflammation in the tissues, but in Fibro they tend to be exhausted and Adrenal support will help if the glands are not too exhausted.

Fibro also can cause calcium buildup in the tissues which can cause pain and massaging overall the body for 4/5 mins every day with Magnesium oil could help ease the pain.
