It's either or for me and i am willing to spend the cash after seeing demo's on both.
I really do not want to hear about another blender besides the two that i have listed. If you own either or, please give me some feedback on why you think it's a good brand. Thanks.
I love my vita mix but do find myself annoyed at the difficulty of scraping off all the food from the bottom. A friend had a vita mix for 20 years and it broke. She bought a blend tec and said it was so much easier to clean. I'll get one of those when my vita mix takes a cahoot.
I love my Ninja mixer. So easy to clean. So powerful, especially for ice. The large one of the 3 has 2 blades, low and mid, that will not let anything escape the blending. The whole motor and blades go in the top. That's why it is so easy to clean. https://www.amazon.com/Ninja-Professi.../dp/B003O47MKA
And much less expensive than the 2 that are named in this thread.

80- bucks, that is a good deal. The vitamix I bought in 2001 was 400 bucks
Looks like my post was deleted because I included a helpful link, that wasn't to amazon.
In short, I said it was difficult to choose between the two. The main benefit of the Blendtec is that it has program cycles and is easier to clean. The Vitamix does not have program cycles but has true variable speed control for anything you blend.
I went with Vitamix because it is not as loud and I love having complete speed control to create anything I like. They also have been making great blenders for 80 years and I like how they represent the company - it's about health, no ridiculous phone blending videos.
Both great blenders - which one depends on what you like. I have no regrets and only paid $329 for a reconditioned unit.

That's too bad, I have never had that issue, I got myself a long handled silicone scraper, sort of like a paint stirrer coated in silicone, really does the trick in scraping everything out with no issues.
Did your friend contact Vitamix when hers broke? They have excellent customer service and will fix just about any problem or replace...
But, the Ninja is amazing. I have the little masterchef ninja and it is amazing and powerful. But like the link above says, none of the ninjas will turn your greens into a milkshake.
In 2010 I was making this same decision, I went with a Vitamix. Reasons:
-- 7 year warranty for the Vitamix, vs a lesser 3-4 year one for the Blendtec
-- Vitamix is definitely made in the USA
-- Vitamix is made for the "plunger" which is very useful. Just today I made vegan yogurt out of two packages of tofu, 16 oz strawberries, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and 3 tablespoons Stevia. To make that in the blendtec you would have to continually stop the blender, open it, stir a little with a spatula and close again. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.
-- I have seen Vitamix 4000's made in the 1980s still being sold on Craigslist, meaning they are really built to last.
-- I don't want programmed buttons or to go by time duration. I believe blending and cooking is more artisanal than that.
Well i bought my Vitamix 4 weeks ago and i must say that i am thoroughly impressed. Smoothies with whole fruits and veggies, salsa, hummus, ice cream, soups...it does everything and then some. Best appliance i currently own and sees the most use next to my microwave.
Dieselboy, the manual says that if you use the regular container on dry items too often to make say humus you will prematurely wear out the blades. That is one of the possible downsides of the Vitamix vs the Blendtec, you are recommended to buy a separate dry carafe for such tasks.
I bought the Vitamix 5200. Picked it up at my local Costco for 379 plus tax.
A little pricey to say the least, but it does everything and then some....my wife makes fresh, whole fruit/veggie smoothies everyday with this thing and the machine handles everything we put into with ease. A regular, cheap-o blender would have been burned out by now...worth the cost if you plan on using it daily.
