Yes it will, but fruit is a whole food. Most fruit offer a substantial amount of fiber which has been shown to decrease the risk of certain diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. It's fiber will make the sugar metabolize more slowly and move through the system faster. Does sugar make you diabetic anyway? Doesn't fat? If you are already diabetic or prediabetic, you have to be more aware of all sugar.

Most doctors are wrong more often then right.

The benefit is in the resveratrol, which is in the grapes used to make the wine. The darker the grapes, the more antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Wine of any kind gives me a headache. take 2 Resveratrols a day - after meals.

Red wine is hangover material. Even some beers can hit you hard. The rest of the world produces clean beers though. Canadian beers are hangover free.

decided to purchase Resveratrols, since everybody wants everything in a pill instead of from food and decide I'll just wash it down with vodka to get the same effect.

If you guys are getting hangovers, your probably drinking more than a glass or have an issue with alcohol that you should probably avoid. Alcoholism can be genetic and everybody reacts differently. A lot of Asians are actually allergic to alcohol, which wasn't really well documented a few years ago. A single drink can turn a person bright red if they have an allergic reaction to alcohol.

I'm just going to continue drinking my red wine on the weekends instead of everyday, mostly because of the calories. I have zero intrest in replacing red wine with a pill, just like I have zero intrest in taking green tea extract instead of drinking green tea.

Unless you grew up in France, where even children drink wine at dinner (highly diluted with water), you won't get enough resveratrol with any food or wine. Resveratrol exists in more that just red wine. You have to take a supplement for a while to get any benefit. Quantity is key. Same as echinacea. Little bit won't help.

Oh bore me into oblivion. This subject is as old as dirt. All things in moderation, yet for woman, 1 is considered moderation. Look...I am a 58 y/o woman and I am not an alcoholic but I think that a glass of milk is worse for you than a glass of beer. I drink 2 light beers every evening and have done so for many many years. I am one of those people who lingers over a beer. I can take as much as 2 hours or more to finish 1 beer, just sipping on it. I like the taste of the beer that I drink and I do not drink it to get drunk. I find it to be the coldest and most refreshing beverage and I find it relaxing. I am not sick and have absolutely no health problems, at least not yet. I fully expect that at some point in the next 10-20 years I will have some kind of health problems but of course I will be approaching my 70s and I'm not expected to live much longer than that that anyway as a woman. You know it's like that old song says, "In heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here."

Beer is not refreshing, it greatly dehydrates you and your intestines. It is also is full of empty useless calories that can only be stored as fat. That is why so many decade plus beer drinkers have beer bellies if they are men, or wider hips/pelvis(women). This in addition to the already stated ill effects of alcohol given by myself and others.

For me it IS REFRESHING and I do not have a beer gut nor am I fat. I am not at all concerned about the empty calories and I'm going to open my second one now. Cheers!

The extra 100 to 200 calories won't effect me isn't anything compared to just eating out one single meal that adds so much junk that makes the meal 1,000 to 2,000 calories. I believe 10 minutes on a elliptical at a fast past is 100 calories burned.
If your drinking 3 or 4 glasses a day that's an issue.

I agree that alcohol dehydrates you, but I don't think anybody argues that. Coffee dehydrates you, yet most americans won't give it up. I personally drink a lot of water throughout the day. I only drink protein shakes, teas, water and wine on the weekends. Every month or so I do ignore a few beers on the weekend.
