Question Krill Oil

Any opinions on Schiff Mega Red Omega 3 Krill Oil? I have a coupon from Costco that'll save me $5. The price is usually around $17 for 90 softgels. I haven't been using Krill because of the high prices.

Okay, I just brought home a bottle of this (Mega Red 300mg Krll Oil), despite what I read on the label. It seems that the omega 3 amounts on the krill oil is much lower than the fish oil I'm using.

Krill - Omega3 is 90mg, Fish is 1400mg
Krill - EPA is 50mg, Fish is 740mg
Krill - DHA is 24mg, Fish is 475mg

Am I not understanding something about krill oil? Isn't the main benefit in taking an Omega 3 supplement in the DHA?

Another bad thing about this is there's sorbitol in the ingredients.

I feel that krill is really hyped up. I'm not sold on it. I'm not convinced that it is free of toxins and heavy metals, and it is not a good idea for anyone sensitive to shellfish. Also, I felt that I had to keep mine in the refrigerator to keep it from going rancid. I do not feel that way with fish oil.

Sorry just a feeling. Nothing concrete.

Thanks for your input jfh. They say it's quality tested for purity, but the info is very vague. I'll use this bottle, but continue with my liquid Now fish oil, which I'm happy with. When I open it, I'll keep in in the fridge like you suggest.

You'll be best advised to check out Healthy Fellow's Krill oil information everything he says is evidence based and fully checked out. I'm not sure if the stuff you've bought has been considered by him but I expect if you search his site you'll find it if he has.

Default Krill oil is better!!

Krill oil is much more effective than other fish oil, Although the EPA and DHA levels are lower than regular fish oil it is more readliy absorbable to the human body so you actually end up getting more. Also the astaxanthin in Krill oil is an amazing antioxidant that makes your skin, hair and nails look amazing which I can vouch for!!!

You need to take NKO krill. Its the purest and best. Mega red is Aker biomarine which is not so good...sorry!
