Default Glandulars...good or bad?

Do glandulars cause the glands to atrophy? Someone told me this, which I never heard of before.

I am taking glandulars for my thyroid (Biotics GTA Forte II) and Adrenals (Thorne Cortrex).

Should I be avoiding glandulars?

What are other ways to support my hypoactive thyroid and adrenal fatigue?

Thanks!

Glandulars are good when used appropriately. They can strenghten and fortify the gland and help it to return to normal function.

I would be hesitant to use Standard Process Glandulars or any other system of glandulars and Lugols iodine at the same time. It might be too much. Only under guidance of someone who knows these products well enough

Taking Lugol's iodine will cure many cases of hypthryoidism. Many people get to reduce or eliminate their need for synthyroid medication, depending on the level of damage they thyroid has suffered over the years. More caution is required if Hashimoto's disease is present and a strict and specific protocol is requried.

Lugols iodine removed thyrod cysts for me. We have a number of threads on how to use Lugols here on the forum. Do a search

I'm taking the glandulars I listed by the advice of a former doctor.

I don't use standard process...not a fan of them. I use Thorne and Biotics.

I take Biotics Iodine drops.

Does Lugols help with adrenal fatigue?

Extended use of glandulars are not recommended, as they will, as you asked, cause the glands to atrophy. Taking one bottle should not be a problem. It's just that if the body is receiving the needed hormone, it will not produce it.

To help adrenal fatigue, you should take vitamin C and pantothenic acid (vitamin b5). Those are the most important and most required nutrients of the adrenal glands. Along with that, you should take an adaptogen. Search this site for adaptogens. Ashwaganda is a good one as it will also help the thyroid. Schisandra is my second favorite. Without an adaptogen, the VitC and B will not help as well as they can. Check this info also.. https://www.chiro.org/nutrition/FULL/...ic_Herbs.shtml

Glandulars can reboot the system. Remember that hormones work in a loop. If one hormone is down many can go down. Boost the missing hormone and the whole loop picks up including the one you supplemented for.. They are meant for a measured time of application and not to say on forever unless you just cant manage to kick start your own system this way. Hormones boost other hormones.... its a perpetual loop. Although there are some nutrients that are critical to homone manufacturing.

As far as I know iodine does not have a direct effect on adrenals. It may affect them bu upping thyroid activity...cant say for sure

The best cure for tired adrenals is lots of stress reduction and rest. Generally they will heal with sufficient rest, lots of rest... and the vitamins jfh mentions too, but without rest your chasing your tail
