Question Vitamin C Mega-Dosing Side-Effects

Aside from diarrhea or stomach upset, are there any serious side-effects from taking large doses of vitamin C for illness?

Should not be, as it is a water soluble vitamin. It is acid though. High sustained acid is as bad as high sustained alkaline. Vitamin C has a short "shelf" life. That is true in the body as well.

A better solution is amla. Amla is 20 times more powerful than ascorbic acid. So, you would not need as much. It is the richest natural source of vitamin c. It has been reported on this forum. Also called Indian gooseberry.

Thanks jfh for the info. I'll look into the Amla.

I've seen some articles on kidney stones issues, but there seems to be little scientific evidence. Wikipedia has an entire section dedicated to vitamin C megadosage and here's a link to side effects. If you scroll up and down, you can read more.
