Default Do Fish Oil Supplements Cause Vitamin E Deficiency

I've been giving my dog fish oil for years now and I've always known that fish oil causes a vitamin deficiency in dogs. So most dog owners give fish oil and vitamin e to their dogs.

I know that the last ingredient in my fish oil is tocopherols, but nowhere does it say the count. I'm wondering if I should be supplementing vitamin E with my fish oil now as I just started taking fish oil.

The multivitamin that I'm thinking about buying has 67iu, so i'm wondering if that's enough.

"Fish oil supplements that are taken for several months can begin to cause a deficiency of vitamin E, according to the National Institute of Health"

Wow, I had no idea about the potential vitamin E deficiency, thanks for sharing.
I've only been taking fish oil with vitamin D1000IU x3 daily.

Any recommendations on fish oils with vitamin E?

I didn't know that either, about regular intake of fish oils causing Vit E deficiency.

Dr. Wright recommends taking Vit E along with fish oils in case the fish oils have oxidized, or to prevent them from oxidizing too fast in the body. He recommends 800 I.U.

And the fish oils or any oil, also helps with the absorbsion of Vit E (or any fat soluble vitamin) unless you take the dry form which is supposed to be more easily absorbed and has less chance of turning rancid.

You should get an E supplement that has mixed tocopherols, i.e., alpha, beta, gamma, etc. (there's 8) because some supplements have only the alpha form which can displace the gamma form. Life Extension Foundation at lef.org has some good articles on the gamma form.

Love Dr. Wright. Check into "Unique E". Probably the only one I would take. They have very high quality control standards, and have been in business a long time.
