Default When to take L-tryptophan and L-Tyrosine?

I have recently bought L-tryptophan and L-Tyrosine. I want to see if they can help me with the anxiety I'm having.
But I'm not sure when to take them. I've read that I should take L-tryptophan before I go to sleep, but will the effects on the Serotonin still be there in the morning when I wake up?
I dont want to feel sleepy but Serotonin do other things than just make people sleepy.

Do I need to take a B6/B12-vitamin at the same time as L-tryptophan or should I only do it with L-Tyrosine?

Not sure. You will have to play with it and see what happens..

Much of the body's serrotonin is producded in the gut.. not the brain.. Improve your gut status... look into VSL#3 probioitc.

If you are having stress issues it would likely do you well to take those B vitamins.

Thank you for your reply.

Does anyone know how long it will take for the L-Tryptophan to start working?
Also, how long should I wait before I eat after I take the pills?

Hello CureMe, welcome. It's been many years since I took L-Tryptophan, and it was only for sleep. It would take effect between a half-hour and an hour for me. I imagine for anxiety issues, you may have to take it for a week or so to see any noticeable results, I'm not sure.

I believe that it should be taken at least a couple of hours away from any foods that contain protein, as it will be less effective when the body is digesting the protein.

Maybe try some L-Theanine.. can help calm you down..

- L-Theanine
- Valerian
- Magnesium

Smell some lavender oil.. get a massage.. go to yoga class, practice slow deep breathing when you feel anxiety coming on, slow your breath and extend the exhale longer then the inhale. Stay social, get fresh air, go on a hike.. and make sure your sleeping well every night. Oh and stay hydrated! Oh and maybe do a bit of a low carb diet for a while..

those things help me

Thanks for all replies. L-theanine is something I will try. I must have spent a smaller fortune on all these supplements.

Can L-tyrosine make you angry and aggressive? I've noticed a pattern in my mood when I take it.
First I feel fine and then in a couple of hours I start to feel angry at everyone and very aggressive.
