Default Snow blind!

I went outside in the backyard yesterday, just for a few minutes to pick up after the dogs. It was warm and very sunny, yet most of the yard was still covered in snow.

When I went back into the house, everything looked greenish and blurry. I held onto the wall and held my forehead, it was scary. I made my way into the other room where my husband was, and told him what I was seeing. He told me I was snow blind, and should wear sunglasses outside when there's snow and sun, even if it's only a couple of minutes.

It's weird to me that this just happened. I spent many years, carelessly out in the sun and snow with no reaction like this! It was a reminder to me to take care of the good vision I have. We sometimes take out sight for granted, but it's truly a blessing to have it.

Smile Snow Blindness!

I've had that happen to me before too, Kind2C; that's why I try to wait for a
cloudy day to even take my garbage out. Your temps will have to stay up for
several days before the snow really does much melting.

Yes this is one of the advantages of growing older. Your eyes become slower to adjust to large changes in light intensity.

Where it is most noticeable for me is if it is a bright sunny day and I go to a movie. If the lights are already turned down in the theater I am virtually blind and need to stand just inside the door for a couple minutes before I can see well enough to find a seat.
