Default Growing a Maple Tree - Easy?

Would it be easy to grow a maple tree and supply your own maple syrup?

Wait a few weeks and I can send you a couple garbage cans worth of seeds.
They are easy to grow and love to self plant themselves.
I have never considered tapping them for the sap. With only three trees Im not sure it would be worth the effort. But it might fun to try.

I really dont know, but I wouldnt expect too much from one tree. Perhaps someone here with a green thumb can answer that.

From shows that I have watched it does seem to take a lot of sap to make a small amount of syrup.

Question

I doubt seriously that 1 maple tree will do it for syrup.
One thing you might want to check out first, is the necessary climate for maple tree syrup production.
I believe Vermont is one good area...I'm sure there are others too. But it seems to me that
possibly bitter cold winter climate may be a factor.
Then remember, there are many types of Maples...water, sugar, red, etc. Lots to consider!

I supposed it would work to get your own maple syrup however, I think it would take a rather long time to actually produce syrup....just my 2 cents.

Ok I have done a little research on the making of maple syrup and it turns out to be a fairly simple process. One you need a maple tree(s). Two you drill a small hole into it to insert a tube for the sap to run out of. Three you collect said sap in a bag or bucket. Four you take the collected sap and boil off the excess water thus leaving you maple syrup.

But it does take about 10 gallons of sap to produce 1 gallon of syrup.

The following links show one families yearly tradition of making maple syrup with the help of a few friends.
