\r\n \r\n This is an amazing picture of a perfect, or near perfect, galaxy. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap110406.html

\nThe astrophysicists have determined that our Milky Way galaxy is a spiral also. This is one of the arms of the spiral, which is also an incredible picture. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap110405.html
\n
\nI had a young friend, who was going for his doctorate in astrophysics. We had long conversations, over lunch, regarding the mathematics of distance gathering. Very very complicated. People can\'t do it. They require assistance of computers. One evidence is the amount of time a lens takes to gather light, such as the lens of the Hubble Space Telescope. Sometimes the lens is opened the closed, then opened for many hours to see how many galaxies show up after such a period. Then theories come into play, such as the known and tested speed of light in a vacuum. But new theories come into such play as well, such as dark matter and dark energy. Way beyond me, but fascinating.
\n
\n Staring nearly 3 months at the same spot, this is what the Hubble saw. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap040309.html It took that long to gather the light from 13 Billion years ago.
\n
\nThen there is also the expanding universe. I wonder how far it can expand? My limited mind and even my limited imagination can\'t fathom infinity.\r\n

Default A perfect spiral galaxy
