Would that be 3 cultures done on the same day or different days?

I guess would I have to make an appointment for all of us to get that done. His doctor is so dismissive, seeing him is like being a part of an assemly line. And to get in to see my doc is ridiculous, I don't know when that will be.

Would making him lay down and tilt his head as far back and put drops of it in the nostrils consider flushing? I don't know how I can make him lay there for 10-15 minutes--that's the hard part. Thanks.

Arrow,

Where do I find NutriSilver? When I try to search it or go to nutrisilver.com I get misdirected to a list of off-the-wall sites.

nightowl

Disreguard....There I go with wrong spelling again!! That's NutraSilver, with an "a", not "i"!! Sorry

Tia,

They should do those cultures a week a apart I would think. All tests after the nose medicine is done. If they come back positive they will want to do more antibiotic. You can flush the sinuses with nutrasilver diluted in water....but I am not sure what the dilution is. Considering that it is 3,600 ppm I would guess that maybe 3 or 4 drops in an ounce of water would do it. I would call and ask. I would flush his sinuses for a couple of days before the tests, try to allow at least one whole week of no nutrasilver and no antibiotic before a test is done. You want to give the nose the opportunity to grow something if it is still there to grow. So flushing the day before would not lead to an accurate test result...lord knows, those tests are inaccurate enough as it is...thats why you have to do three.

The doctor didn't tell me how long I suppose to use the nose medicine on him. I guess I should call and ask, and also tell him that my boy needs to get the nasal cultures done.

Hi Jim and Nightowl, how are you guys? Very nice to hear from you again

Just curious, don't we all have staph bacteria that is living in our nasal passage?

How long do those bugs survive on the surface?

And if it's not there in the nose, does it mean that it's no longer in the system?

Thanks

Yes, most of us have common staph in the nose and on skin surfaces. It generally is not a problem, but under some circumstances it can cause an infection. It generally is easily treatable but it has been through the repeated treatment of common staph that MRSA has developed. Now MRSA is its own entity and colonizing on the body just as common staph always has, it is contageous, you can carry it and not know it.
