Question ABC & Nightline on COWS/MILK!

Did anyone else see the segment on ABC national evening news and later on
Nightline last night, about the horrible treatment of milk-producing cows? I
wonder if it will have any effect on the public's milk consumption?

I didn't get to see it EarlyBird, but I looked it up after reading your post and watched one of the video clips online. https://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/animal...ory?id=9658866

I hope it does have an effect on the public's milk consumption, these creeps need to wake up and run their businesses in a humane manner! That CEO, O'Dell when responding to the question that the cow looked like it was in pain when they cut off it's tail with no anesthetics, said "it may APPEAR that way", and then finished off with the fact that he couldn't comment for the cow!

I have a lot of compassion for animals who are abused, from household pets, to farm animals or wildlife. I have the belief that those who abuse others, whether people or animals, should suffer by receiving the same torture that they inflicted on their victims. In this case they may not have tails or horns to lop off, but plenty of other body parts available to get the point across!

We travel across country on vacations, and it warms my heart to see fields of well cared for cows grazing, with shelters for bad weather or escape from sun in summertime, with plenty of fresh clean water to drink. We've had to stop many times on dirt roads that were filled with roaming cows and their calves, and we always enjoy just looking at them all. It pains me to know that some of them end up in these torture chambers.

Unhappy Chickens on Oprah

I was just watching Oprah today, and one of her guests was Michael Pollan who wrote the book Food Rules.

They spoke of how chickens are pumped up with growth hormones and antibiotics. They showed chickens pretty much on top of one another in an extremely over-crowded area.

They showed how the chickens were falling down, because they were growing at such an accelerated rate, their bones and organs could not keep up. They want them to grow up as fast as possible for slaughter and profit, quick turnover.

Later in the show they had the founder of Chipoltle fast food restaurants. He talked about using natural and organic chicken and pork, etc. in his eateries. They showed some nice plump pigs roaming about with plenty of room, on green grass. We're really not into fast food, but we do go there once in a blue moon when convenient, and the food is good.

We are a strange and many times cruel species. It is no wonder that Mother Nature tries to get rid of us every chance she gets. We haven't done a very good job since we were given dominion over the Earth.

Thumbs up Oprah Show!

I saw Oprah's show too - Great show with lots of super info. I was glad that Pollan
brought out the fact that both chickens and cattle are pumped full of antibiotics
and hormones, creating problems for treating people with diseases really needing
antibiotics to heal.
Excellent Program!

Hi EarlyBird, I'm with you! I appreciate shows on subjects like that, instead of some mindless fluff.

It's the same deal with the lower quality dog foods. They render the carcasses of dead/euthanized animals, some who have been sickly and heavily medicated, and turn it back into dog food.

I've bought some nice plump chicken breasts recently, and that show was a good reminder of how they got that way, now the choice is up to me to keep eating them, or pay more for organic.
