Default If You're Going To Buy Organic, Consider This

Quote:
While there is an ongoing debate about whether buying organic food really makes a difference in terms of health, the reality is that some consumers choose organic foods because they want to lower their exposure to pesticides. For those shoppers, it makes sense to know when to buy organic and which conventionally-grown foods are good enough because they already are low in pesticide residue.

The Environmental Working Group tested dozens of fruits and vegetables to determine which foods are the worst offenders in terms of pesticide exposure. Some fruits and vegetables grown with conventional farming methods simply don’t absorb the pesticides. Some examples of vegetables and fruits with very low pesticide residues are onions, mangoes, asparagus, broccoli and eggplant. So whether you pick them up from the regular produce section or the organic aisle, your pesticide exposure is going to be low.

So if you are on a budget, focus your organic dollars where it counts — on foods that suck in a lot of pesticides when grown using conventional farming methods. Foods that typically have high levels of pesticide residue include peaches, strawberries, sweet bell peppers, celery and lettuce.

To see the complete list of the 43 fruits and vegetables tested by the Environmental Working Group, click here. The site includes a printable chart of the dozen foods lowest in pesticide residue and those that are best purchased from the organic aisle.

There could be a train of thought that says if you ingest tiny amounts of somerhing like that, you might build up a resistency.

I say that as in recent years, people have theorised about the increase of certain things like Asthma, even though air quality has had to be legally improved for many years now, so things like Smog, Airborne industrial emissions etc etc, have to be lower and meet certain criteria, and peoples houses are often more sterile than they used to be.

Some people I've heard who were alive well over 50 years ago, talk about kids playing in the street, and dropping something like a Sandwhich and just eating it, saying the slight exposure to bugs and germs built up resistancy, in a way that things like sterile domestic environments probably don't do anymore, because that exposure when young that helps build up any possible resistance is taken away.

I know that pesticides aren't a great thing to consume, but given the theoretical possibility, that gradual ingestion could possibly improve resistancy, against any pesticide issues, or even other microbes / bugs, (Mosquitos and DDT being an example), should people necessarily be overly concerned anyway?

A spiritual teacher I had many years ago cured his cancer by juicing. There were no organics available at the time. He said that nonorganics could do it and he was the living testimonial. Rev. Chris. He also had a great mind and incredible power in prayer. I talk about him in the mind thread. Still I prefer organics, just my weak mind I guess. I do think that bugs, germs, are really quite different than chemicals.
