I agree, a little is good. I've never heard a lot is not better. I tell my kids to eat something good before something bad. Most people cannot do well if they deny themselves all food that gives them pleasure. I signed up for a farm share last year, and I was so embarrassed...I had no clue what half the veggies were! I was supposed to get a newsletter, but I didn't until about the 5th box. I won't do that again, because of how costly it was, but I did discover some new (to me) veggies, so I'm really happy I tried it. Let us know when you get the recipes up on your site!

Will do Liza! I will say that will happen little by little (first is the pomegranate recipes) and then it'll evolve into something bigger over time. But in the mean time feel free to check out the rest of the site and please leave some feedback! Cheers

I LOOVE ACAIII.. i used to be addicted.. I would drink acai smoothies almost everyday for a long time... and get these acai bowls with fruit and nuts.. so good..

But then i became paranoid about getting diabetes and went low carb and practically stopped eating fruit altogether.. now im trying to get back into eating fruit in moderate amounts because there are so many health benefits.

I read that acai has a very low glycemic index.. is this true? does that mean I can eat it on a low carb type diet?

Yes, acai is a low glycemic carb b/c about 40% of the nutritional value comes from fiber alone. It's also a great source of omega fats and amino acids (which is probably why the Brazilians eat it after physical activity).

I discuss a few more of the benefits on this page: https://www.antioxidantsdetective.com/acai-berries.html

Hope this helps your search. Cheers!

Thanks for the info!

The only problem is.. it seems most nutritional data on acai is specifically talking about the berry itself.. yet almost no one eats the raw berries. When I eat it , its normally in a kind of ice cream type form or frozen.. sometimes with added fruits / fruit juice. Its hard to find out the GI index of processed foods huh? hmm...

It is and the frozen/ice cream type usually have some type of sweetener added (usually agave or with a new brand I saw Acai Xtreme they use guarana) so that's something to consider.

I would hypothesize that the glycemic index would be the same as the whole food b/c as an example is with if you were to take strawberries, freeze it and then blend it into a sorbet type thing... wouldn't it have the same GI? I would think it'd be maybe a little higher but still the same for the most part. Just something to consider. We'll see what the research tells us in the future
