Default Probiotic Yogurt Drink May Lift Mood

Quote:
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 124 healthy adults (mean age: 61.8 years), daily consumption of a probiotic-containing milk drink for a period of 3 weeks was found to improve the mood of subjects whose mood was poor at baseline, as compared to a placebo.

Prior to intervention, subjects who were less frequently constipated were found to be more clear-headed, confident, and elated. After the probiotic intervention, subjects who were in the bottom third of the depressed/elated dimension at baseline reported themselves as "happy" rather than "depressed."

While there was an initially low rate of constipation among the subjects, the intervention did not lead to an increase in the reported frequency of defecation.

The results of this study warrant further research investigating the impact of probiotic consumption on mood and cognition.

Default Milk..

Although I certainly agree with using a good probiotic daily, I do not agree with consuming milk. Milk is NOT good for you depsite what the ads say. Milk is glue. It is liquid protein, which blocks absorbtion of calcium. Milk causes allergic reactions in millions of people, especially dark skinned people. Dairy, along with refined sugar, are the reasons alot of people are sick. Rice milk, on the other hand, is a good choice.
