EarlyBird, here's a page with some info about chocolate.

I have a dark chocolate bar at home now that's 55% Cacao. The higher the percentage, the healthier it is for you, but we don't like ours too dark. Mine is Dark Chocolate with Lemon & Pepper. One must always remember to eat only small amounts, because it still is fattening, but not as bad as the milk chocolate.

EarlyBird,

If you like experimenting in the kitchen, it's pretty easy to make a homemade dark chocolate bar. You basically need only 3 to 4 ingredients:

+ pure (100%), organic cocoa powder *

+ organic coconut milk or organic coconut oil *

+ dried fruit and/or nuts, if desired

+ stevia to taste

* organic isn't required

All you have to do is combine the ingredients in a pot over low heat until smooth. Adjust the proportions of the ingredients to suit your taste. Pour into a glass container and cool in the refrigerator. Keep refrigerated.

Healthier, less expensive and available whenever you want it.

Question Healthy Dark Chocolate

What is the name of your Company, Dustin? Please keep us informed!

Thanks for the recipe, Harry. I prefer my chocolate plain - no fruits/nuts.
Question - If put in a glass jar to cool, how then does one get it out of the
glass jar without breaking the jar?

EarlyBird,

I usually put it in a glass baking pan or pie pan (Pyrex brand). The (healthy) saturated fat in the coconut milk and coconut oil allows the dark chocolate mix to harden quite well and not stick much to the pan. Another option would be to line the pan with natural parchment paper and break the chocolate outside of the glass container. Or, you could always use a metallic pan instead - with a parchment lining so as not to transfer any flavor from the pan.

I hope you enjoy it, if you try it.

Exclamation Healthy Dark Chocolate!

Would you believe that I found some at Aldi's yesterday! Only $1,69 for a
large pack. Brand is Moser Roth - 85% Cocoa - very bitter! Inside larger pack
are 5 smaller individually wrapped bars.
I definitely won't be pigging out on it due to the bitterness.
