Default Aspartame's effect on serotonin?

Is it true it blocks serotonin in the brain? Hence more dopamine?

I don't know what it does but it screwed me up royally for about 5 months back in 98 when I did the Atkins diet. Symptoms were loss of memory and panic disorder. All ill effect stopped after about a week when I stopped the aspertame. I know that I was luckier than some others who have used it who continue will ill effects for a long time.

Thanks for sharing Arrow. Its amazing how one ingredient can kill the potential for a good supplement.

I know that putting that garbage in my system wouldn't help my mood very much. Aspartame is bad news, I wouldn't want it in a supplement for any condition.

I had not heard that aspertame was being placed in supplements. With the Adkin's diet, in the original book, Dr Atkins recommended drinks with aspertame to avoid carbohydrates. It is my understanding that that was taken out in more recent editions, probably when he realized what a grave error he had made.

I recently stumbled across this sci article but all the holistic professionals make it clear that this stuff is toxic.

Default Aspertame

Aspertame is absolute POISON to one's system. It can cause LUPUS for
one thing. Please don;t use anything but Stevia, whether you have Diabetes
or not.

Stevia lately is pissing me off cause it in two of my protein shakes. Different brands and one tasted really good and the other tasted horrible. But now the one that tasted good is only good some time. Which sucks but it may actually be a good thing. For the reason the tongue has glucose receptor molecules and when it tastes sugar the body can signal insulin to elevate. Whereas something bitter might not. Same principle when one gets hungry and thinks about fast food. It can trigger the hormone insulin. So I guess I appreciate stevia a little more. Only god sometimes its extremely bitter. Now erythritol I like alot but no one makes different flavors like vanilla and no one make sit organic. WTF?

Some people use vanilla extract to balance out the bitterness of Stevia in recipes, you could probably try it in your shakes.

Its listed as an ingredient in the protein and I was using the real thing for a while which kinda smelled like vanilla but didn't taste like vanilla. I think I could deal with it though. Thanks for the recommend. If you happen to find any vanilla erythritol products please let me know.

I guess that's why I can only find vanilla-flavored whey without any sweeteners. Which is fine, vanilla is a flavor most people like. They seem to be putting Stevia in everything and I react to it like I do to sugar so I have to avoid it. Hopefully they won't put it in everything. I don't need everything to be sweet but broccoli-flavored greens powder for example is no fun!
