Default r-alpha lipoic acid & B12

In an article it stated that r-alpha lipoic acid should not be taken if there is a depletion of B12.

Does anyone know if it is ok to just take B12 along with the r-ala or should one build it up in the body before starting the r-ala.

Just do it. I recommend a lipsomal B12 over sublingual. Sorry no link right now.

RoseAnnester has researched B12 and she suggests the Methylcobalamin form.

these are what I use.
Jarrow Formulas, Methyl B-12, 1000 mcg, 100 Lozenges

and this is the Country Life, BioChem, R-Lipoic Acid, 100 mg, 60 Veggie Caps
Code WAB666 saves $5.but Vitacost/Swansons/Amazon may be as cheap depending on shipping cost to your destination.

It would be helpful if you could post a link to the article that made this claim. I've been unable to find it or any reason to support the idea. I don't think it's a good idea to remain B12 deficient but it's not that expensive to take a Methylcobalamin supplement a few times a week if you are not sure.

Question

I prefer to take any of these nutrients in either liquid or powder form -
Capsules containing powder. I always worry whether Hard tablets of any kind
dissolve adequately.

Dissolve in mouth or chew one lozenge
research seems to show oral supplementation with B12 works

This is in response to arrowwind09. forigive my ignorance, but what is lipsomal b12; the form I have is 1000 mcgs. of powdered alpha lipoic in capsules. Is lipsomal different? I did try a medical dictionary, but didn't understand the meaning.
Please respond.

I bought this Eligen B12 from LEF and will wait to start it after I get blood tests later this week, and see the results. I was low last year in B12 and a little high in Folate, so I suspect that it's a condition I've read about where Folate deficiency masks a B12 deficiency, or is it the other way around?! My doctor had commented that I am anemic...if I understand it right...anemia can be caused by either iron or B vitamin deficiency. I believe the Theralac probotics I plan to take soon will help with B vitamin production too.

Eligin seems expensive but they say it is equal to having injections or IV treatments, and it's in the system in about 30 minutes.

I edited this because they re-directed the link to a different subject completely. Anyhow Ted, in answer to your post below, the greatest thing about this B12 is the ultra fast absorption rate into the bloodstream in 30 minutes, which usually takes 6.8 hours with standard B12 tablets. It utilizes a special carrier to facilitate delivery of B12 molecules through passive transport, leading to incredibly higher absorption rates and optimal B12 levels.

Oral Treatment:

Goldman: Cecil Textbook of Medicine, 21st Ed., W. B. Saunders Company, Page 1056

"Oral cobalamin, 1 to 2 mg/day [1000 to 2000 mcg per day], is the treatment of choice for most patients. This [oral] dose is as effective and possibly superior to a parenteral [shots] regimen in all causes of cobalamin deficiency because 1 to 2% of an oral dose is always absorbed by diffusion.
