Nightowl,

I don't know about nacient iodine but Lugol's is much stronger than pharmacy iodine. Much stronger! and purer and does need to be diluted if used on open wounds as it can burn.

Maria, if your iodine that you put on your skin absorbs quickly you are a candidate for oral intake and you probably really need it.

Are you followed by a doctor? Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Lots of people with thyroid issues thrive on using iodine and are able to decrease the thyroid hormones that they take. If you have thyroid issues I recommed that you get your levels checked 6 weeks after starting iodine and adjust your iodine levels accordingly. Many times a need for homone is reduced as the iodine builds and forities the thyroid gland.

Generally most people can tolerated 4 drops of 5% lugols in water or tea or juice daily. It will do wonders for you. And if you have a cyst on your forehead topical applications will get rid of it, and such cysts are clear indications of lack of iodine. We have done this with my son as he gets such cysts and all have been removed with iodine and dmso and iodine and mms combined topically. But do not use iodine from the drug store. Please do a search on iodine on this forum and start reading. There is a huge learning curve to understand just what iodine can do for you. You can also learn about iodine at www.HealthSalon.org do a blog search there also. Watch the Berstein videos at www.thevitamincfoundation.org

Do a net search 'crows iodine' and you find where to purchase it. You want 7% if you can find it, but more and more its hard to find and 5% will do.

Best,
Arrow

Maria,
listen to Arrow...she has more experience with iodine than I do.

Arrow,
I was under the impression that iodine available in drug stores is 5% but is not safe to take orally. What strength is it normally? I've been trying to find info to compare the various types online but ran out of time. I will try to delete the post, until I get more time to read the iodine book I bought a week or so ago, and check around more. You are probably right Arrow...I just have to satisfy my own mind.

I purchased Lugols about a year ago and was only able to get 5% in a 1 oz bottle from J.C. Crow's store online. (I spilled almost half of it!) Most other places only stock 2%. I haven't found 7% in any online store but even Mark Sircus says it's out there. Maybe from those who stocked ahead before the government regulated it. I would be happy with 5% in a larger bottle for oral and topical use.

The Nascent iodine I'm using now doesn't seem to have as dark a color as Lugol's or drug store variety so I can't depend on it for the skin test.

Part of the power of lugol's iodine is found in its combination with potassium to create potassium iodide.

If you put regular drug store iodine on an open wound it wont' bother you but if you put lugols on it will burn, It should be diluted for wounds.

Frankly, I don't know what percent the drugstore variety is. It is toxic and it is a fabricated substance, with a polyvinyl in it.

It has not proven to provide the curative and healing properties that Lugol's has and for this reason I consider it stronger, more powerful, not due to any measurement or percentage but though the action it is capable of.

Nascent must be strong too then, because I think I burnt my throat the first dose when I mixed 4 drops with only about a quarter cup of water and drank it. Now I'm doing the same with 5 drops...but will make it a full glass of water next time, as the lable says. Glad you brought this to my attention before I tried it for my lungs!

Hi,

I am not using providone. I am using 2% tincture. It has on the label: Iodine 2%, alcohol 47%, sodium iodine 2.4% and purified water. I put it on my skin. I'm not sure about using something "stronger" because when I put this stuff on more than once a week, my thyroid gets sore.

I'm off the MMS. I just couldn't take being so sick. I did 4 drops once a day for 6 days, then 1 drop on the last day, and I've been off since Sunday. Even on that reduced dose, I didn't feel much better. I think there's quite a few days lag from dose to end of resultant detox. Just yesterday I started to feel substantially better. I lifted a bucket full of water on Sunday and it left me with cramps and fatigued. I lifted the same bucket yesterday and it was no big deal. I also got a lot of housework done that had been sitting, yesterday. I have been toxic enough on this therapy that I was getting "snowdrifts" of undone things. Tools not put away, books, papers, groceries, etc. that just were sitting around because I was too tired to put them away. I am normally the fix-it person, but the dishwasher was on the fritz for two weeks and finally my husband took it apart. Yikes! It did survive, and is now working properly. Yesterday, I puttered about all day and got some progress with the snowdrifts. I'm not getting as cold, my stomach feels better, I'm in a better mood, and although my muscles still hurt, not nearly so much. I need to feel good for awhile so I can get my world under control. I need to patch a leak in the roof.

My muscles are better. I found myself sitting on the couch with my soles together. I don't think I've done that in years. I'm hoping that more improvements make themselves evident as my system gets back to "normal" with fewer toxins on board.

Maria
