Hi,

It's a 7 person tub (but tends to overflow if you get that many in it), and I think it holds between 250 and 300 gallons. The thing is about 20 years old, so it's not fancy. Octagonal with 5 jets, outdoors. I use it for at least an hour a day. Love the thing.

Hi M,
20th straight month...wow, I have never made that using chlorine and nature 2...
You use it daily and only every few days add a shot of h2o2, I assume you mean a 1/4 cup? and you don't have to shock it weekly as I have been told...I am going to try this!
Thanks for the input.

One other thing, you use it for an hour a day, then the temp can't be that high? I keep mine at 99 which I think it feels higher and after 30-45 minutes I've had enough and I think stuff grows easier at higher temps as I have a friend that doesn't have any water problem and keeps his around 85...just wondering.

I keep mine at 99 to 100 in the summer, and at 102 in the winter. Maybe a little higher if it's really cold out.

Yeah, about a quarter cup of peroxide at a time, and probably not even twice a week unless other people get in or massage oil gets in there. I just add a little extra in that case.

No "shock". The Nature two has silver and copper in it. The silver kills bacteria and the copper kills algae. The peroxide eats up all the organics. Tree leaves melt in a day or two. Sometimes you can smell hydrogen sulfide awhile after adding peroxide. The filter picks up what doesn't digest.

I found that recipe on the internet when I got fed up with the bromine. A friend said I had bromine on my breath, and I was not going to put up with being saturated with chemicals. A lot of spa store clerks insist it won't work, but I thought it sounded reasonable, and tried it. My spa is cleaner and more manageable than when I used approved recipes. One article said peroxide can damage your light lenses, but I haven't had trouble with that. Maybe they kept the concentration higher, or the plastic was different, but even if it did, I think a foggy lense is a small price to pay for clean water.
