Default Fungus?

I've read that MMS can clear out yeast infections like Candida, and it's supposed to help fungus too. I was hoping it would help a problem I have.

On the insides of my ankles, behind the bony knob, I have an area that itches fit to drive me bonkers. It burns and itches like crazy. It will do this for a while -- usually a month or two -- and then it will clear up (usually after forming some small red spots) and go away for a while.

I believe this is a fungus for several reasons: cortisone seems to make it worse, OTC fungus treatments knock it down temporarily, and it disappeared for about 6 months after I took a systemic anti-fungal for a toenail fungus.

After a few weeks of MMS I have not seen any improvement. I tried applying full-strength activated MMS to the affected area, and if anything it got a bit worse. Which makes me nervous considering the post at https://jimhumble.biz/biz-fungus.htm !

It didn't get "so bad I couldn't walk" so maybe it's not that flavor of fungus. Any suggestions? Maybe it's time to go back to the dermatologist and look for a bigger hammer...

I would not take Lamisil. Do not do it! It causes liver damage and it happens in many more people than they let on.

When you apply topical MMS the site will get red, may even look excoriated. always apply and rinse off after 2 to 3 minutes. Then after your treatment time, say 1 to 2 weeks, the redness will continue because the mms has damaged the skin a little. It will go away.

If you did this and it did not cure move on to something else. I do think most topical fungus needs to be treated for a least a week after it seems to be gone. Try oregano oil, tea tree oil.

late note. I just found this on Jim Humbles site. please go here to read about tough to treat fungus.

Thanks Arrow,

Yes, I saw the page on jimhumble.biz. That's what got me worried.

I got even more worried last night. The biz-fungus.htm page says the mystery fungus gets much worse after applying MMS. I applied it Sat & Sun, then Mon night (last night) I was awake half the night because my ankles were burning/itching worse than I think they ever have. I couldn't stand it, and there was no way I could sleep. I finally applied some OTC anti-fungal cream to tame it down to a mere "drive you crazy" level so I could get some rest.

But reading your description of topical application, I'm wondering if I just screwed up and did it wrong, and irritated the area that way. I applied full-strength activated MMS (just 5:1 acid:MMS) and LEFT IT ON. I did it for only 2 days.

Maybe I should wait a week, let the skin recover, and try it again but rinse it off this time? Do you apply it full-strength or diluted?

BTW yes, I *did* take Lamisil last winter. I was willing to try it because my doctor claimed it was perfectly safe, *and* because I had several fungal problems on my feet. In addition to the toenail fungus on 2 nails, I also had a problem with itching between the same 2 toes, and then I had this itching on my ankles. Various topical creams hadn't resolved the problems, and I thought a systemic attack might clear it all up. The Lamisil cleared up the toenail fungus, and I think it cleared up the toe itching. The ankle itch went away for 6 months but now it's back with a venegance.

They do make a lamisil creame don't they? I wonder if that would be equally as dangerous as the pill... no, I would stay away from it. I have known a few people who have "arthritis" like symptoms of the liver from it with similar inflammatory markers up, and bunch of nasty symptoms to go with it.

I would put the mms on full strength, then rinse off after 2 minutes. You can experiment. If 2 minutes is too much try one minute.

That article on Jims page went on to talk about using clay. Certainly that is a safe treatment and I wouldn't hesitate to try that. Treatment time my take a while and I would do the oral treatment at the same time that he talks about. It is likely that you have it in other places, and most likely your gut.

People talk about antibiotic resistant and highly pathogenic bacteria all the time now. But it is ditto for fungus, except fungus has a different presentation in the body. They are treating fungus all the time now in the hospital with big gun antifungals. I do think that these infections can be contagious also.

I suspect Gary, that you either caught this fungus in a locker room or you have a history of a fair amount of antibiotic use.

It's rare that I see the inside of a locker room. But I've had these foot fungi for many years, so it's not impossible. I don't remember the last time I took antibiotics but I'd bet I haven't done it more than 2-3 times in the last 30 years.

I got some of the clay to help soothe my ankles. I suspect the acid inflamed the already-present fungal infection. (Do fungi like an acidic environment? Or maybe it just burned/irritated the skin? Whatever happened, I don't want it to happen again. It felt like somebody had flayed the skin off my ankles and then poured hot chili sauce on it.) I applied the clay/vaseline for a few days to get things calmed down, but then circumstances made it difficult to keep that messy goop on my ankles. Right now I'm using an OTC anti-fungal to knock it down, and I plan to go back to the clay later this week.

I can see how topically-applied clay could help a topical infection. But I do NOT see how internally-ingested clay could help a systemic infection. The clay is only going to go through the digestive tract. If the fungus is anywhere else, how could the clay affect it?
