Default The Alpha Brainwave Requirement

Whether it's meditation, autogenics, yoga, Silva, Superlearning, Hypnosis, NLP, and maybe, even taiji and qigong, success (to achieve whatever goal one has set) hinges on one's being able to get into the alpha brainwave state. In fact, all the mental techniques train one, or induce one, to get into an alpha brainwave state.

Many don't bother or just don't have the time and/or money and/or discipline to go through the training to make alpha induction a voluntary thing. (We all go through the various brainwave patterns depending on our state of consciousness. The point is being able to get into alpha voluntarily, or even remain in alpha most of our waking time.)

Well, the good news is that we can be induced to get into the alpha state, whether we like it or not, by listening to a particular type of music: music with the largo beat (50 to 60 beats per minute). Such music is common in Baroque music (Vivaldi, Bach, Corelli, Telemann, etc.), most having the largo or adaggio movements. However, in selecting the music, one must check that those sections indeed are in the 60 beats-per-minute range because some performers or conductors may prefer to go through those movements at a faster pace. Slower would be no problem.

From easiest (no training needed) to the more difficult (training and discipline needed), I would present this list of methods of getting into, or learning to get into, the alpha state:

1. Listening to music with largo beat. In fact, even listening to a metronome beating at 60 per minute will get the same effect.

2. Looking at lights flashing at particular intervals (visual entrainment) - not recommended for those with epileptic tendencies.

3. Listening to stereo sound with asynchronous left ear-right ear tones (binaural beats)

4. Autogenics and similar relaxation technics. (Click here for a good description of first level autogenics.)

5. Qigong or pranayama breathing technics

6. Silva mind control and similar technics such as self-hypnosis

7. Transcendental meditation and similar technics

8. Raja yoga with or without hatha yoga

9. Taiji and similar martial arts based technics

Once in alpha, one can work using techniques like visualization or affirmations to effect various goals, a partial list including:

- health improvement
- pain control
- body healing
- mind healing
- habit forming or breaking
- superlearning or supermemory
- decision making
- psychic powers like disease diagnosis, telepathy, remote viewing, etc.

and the endeavor's success is greatly accelerated.

Just an introduction... to stimulate more contribution of ideas.

Do you have a technic of your own? or intended application?

Gerry

Here's the technique I use and I love it. I was introduced to the original Chi Machine (the one with 38 years of research) last November, it places the user into an alpha brainwave state very easily. Here's how:
The wavelike motion of the body on the machine creates a lateral flexion of the spine, which stimulates the autonomic nervous system to open the bronchioles, thereby increasing oxygen exchange and creating an alpha wave state similar to meditation. Fifteen minutes on the machine provides the oxygen equivalent to 90 minutes of brisk walking.

Holosync did more for me than anything. Just by putting on headphones and listening to a CD with binaural beats, it entrains the brain and nervous system into not only alpha but theta.

HJ,

I checked out the CenterPointe website but I would like to know what your experience was like with their products. What products did you use? How did you use them - daily? for how long? Do you still use them? etc.?

How did this "therapy" impact your life? They list so many potential benefits, on their site, that I would like to better understand what you found to be true.

Harry, what you can do is order their free demo CD and see for yourself. I was an extremely nervous and sensitive person and Holosync helped to calm me. It really does make the brain go into alpha and theta brainwaves giving feelings of peace and relaxation. I was extremely sensitive to loud noises and bright lights and it helped to lessen the impact on my nervous system. I will say though that it doesn't seem to work for everyone. I have been in contact with a few people on the internet who said it didn't work for them. Centerpointe's demo is free and they used to have a one year money back guarantee on their Awakening Prologue CD which is the first one in their program. So you can't lose anything.

It's expensive but I don't mind one bit because of what it has done for me. I also had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and it cured it. Yes, I am using the word cure.

I hope I am remembering this correctly. You start out listening for 30 minutes a day then it is increased to one hour a day. I am on the second level now and I am not as disciplined with it as I used to be but the effects are cumulative so my nervous system has been rewired so to speak. I was even extremely shy and I became more outgoing. Sounds impossible but it is true.

If you don't understand anything on their website, call their 800 number and ask questions.

For many years, I have tried the alpha, delta, theta stuff. The problem with our natural psychology is that our brains don't like change. This is the problem with even trying to disciple ourselves to keep up the momentum of daily meditation or affirmations. We tend to think that after a few days, we don't need it anymore or we think it is time wasted. I have a psychologist friend that has studied this. He says that, if we can just make it past 15 days, we can be transformed.

I found this product to help me the most. It is beautiful classical music with the required beats in the background. There are some that the beats are very noticeable; but, not obnoxious. It is pleasant to have in the background while working, reading, or relaxing. There are 3 CDs, in each case, that I bought. I bought 2 series. Each for a different purpose. I see that they have new ones. The 1st 2 series are for Intelligence and Creativity. https://www.imusicseries.com/research/

It just makes it so easy, when you don't have to allocate time for such as this. Background is fine.

Jim,

How much of a daily time-commitment are we talking about here? I see that their studies typically used a 60-70 minute time-frame. But, I also saw something on their site that mentioned a significantly shorter session (less than 10 minutes).

Unlike hypnosis or committed time for meditation. You can take is as long as you wish or short as you wish. I use them while I'm on the PC or reading. The one for creativity is great for use while reading. Or even if you are a writer. It merely helps to align your mind for the correct "state of mind" for the goal. For studying, use the ones for Intelligence. The original sale propaganda said that you can use it while you are doing home domestics. That worked for me better than while reading or studying. I normally prefer no distractions. I once asked them if I could use them while commuting to work. They said that is a good thing; because, they increase the awareness. I used them at work with earphones too. I needed to focus on major computer challenges. Thank goodness I'm retired now, less stress. They seemed to help me focus on my work though.

I wish they had a sample for you to download. That would be the best. If you've ever had any brainwave CD or tape, these are really no different; except they combine with beautiful music. I use to have a tape cassette many years ago that would take the brain to Theta. With that, I had to dedicate time each day. Theta was too relaxing. It became a bother after a time; because I had to find the time.
