Default Are toxins the leading causes of all diseases (not just physical ones but psychological illnesses as well)?

Are toxins (in foods) the leading causes of all diseases (not just physical ones but psychological illnesses as well)?

No. There can be genetic factors, birth defects, nutritional deficiency, contageous disease.

I think the leading cause of physchological issues is likely various kinds of family abuse or religious indoctrination and if you don't believe that watch the movie "the Stoning of Soraya M" or just take a look at what the Catholic Church has done to so many. You can add to that Political and Military indoctrination... look at Hitler's youth camps... and some of the psycho christian camps for kids in our country recently. Or post combat stress disorder that can last for a lifetime and impact families profoundly.

I guess the reason why I posted the original question is because I wanted the answer to be 'yes'. If the answer is yes then all I would have to do is go on a detox diet and make sure that I am not consuming any toxins. Also, just because one person says 'no' does not mean that the answer is no.

The motive behind the original post of this thread was actually a statement by Kevin Trudeau. I was watching one of his infomercials and at one point during the infomercial he said that toxins are the number one causes of all disease. I wanted to believe that statement to be true because then all I would have to do is go on a detox diet and my life would be great.

Currently, my life sucks and I have found that whenever I go on a detox diet my physical health improves, but then my emotional health declines. I wanted the answer to be 'yes' to the original question because then all I would have to do is go on a detox diet and rid my body of toxins so that my life would not suck.

Well, uniden, your life still doesn't HAVE to suck!! It's your life and only you can do something to change it!

First learn how to force yourself to see the positive in every situation. Kinda like an experiment. Then make note of 5 things you'd really like to change in your life. Start with #1 and focus on making small changes in that area (this could take years) until you're satisfied enough to move onto #2.

Life isn't all happy-happy. Sure, you'll have some really great times, and some really awful times. If you can stay right in the middle by staying positive, it's contentment that'll take you the long haul.

Lightbulb It's all in the mind!

Hi Uniden

Bad attitude is a toxin! Further, our rather rigid view that mind is spirit and body is physical, is a root of primary misunderstanding. Bringing mind and body back to the whole is a first step to proper understanding. This does not mean that you shouldn't raise your consciousness about diet, and only meditate. But think about looking into the practice of Qigong or Taiji for example, to help reintegrate.

IMHO one of the best new age spiritual teachers is Eckhard Tolle - who became "enlightened" through suicidal depression (at the moment he grasped the duality - someone within also perceived the agonised "mind"). He asserts that unhappiness causes hormonal imbalances leading to physical ill health. Depression has been linked with cancer. How do we explain the placebo effect and also the "nocebo" effect (ie if you don't believe something will make you better, it won't)?

Forget about detox - this is mumbo jumbo - your body detoxes naturally.
The practice of intermittent fasting will melt away intravisceral fat - now that IS toxic! (ie toxins are also endogenous - a better place to start)

Having said all that, we live in world where it is priudent to avoid pesticides and heavy metals and so on. There is much injury we do to our planet in the name of insatiable greed - and it's not only the obvious things like the BP oilspill catastrophe.

Take care
