"These results suggest that administration of thiamine may help to improve endothelial function, thereby slowing the development and progression of atherosclerosis. These results are particularly relevant to patients with impaired glucose tolerance and those with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, who are at an increased risk of rapidly developing atherosclerosis."
