Default Belly Fat

If your hip/waist ratio is more than one, you could be
at major risk for a number of diseases, not to mention
stroke, heart attack.

Here's a site that discusses this.

I suspected a typo, and it was confirmed when I read the site you gave.

I think you meant waist/hip ratio, not hip/waist.

If hip/waist ratio is more than one, then hip is wider, which is what is considered better.

Just the technical in me. 8)

Default Ratio

I'd like to add that if the waist to hip ratio in a woman is higher than .8, that is dangerous. The 1 is for men.
Also a high ratio is a sign the person is developing Metabolic Syndrome, which affects about 1/3 of American adults, and most have not been told they have it by their lazy doctors. It will take an average of ten years off your life, or so my doctor told me when I was diagnosed with it about ten years ago.
It is very hard to deal with once established, so it's better to prevent it in the first place.
The full set of symptoms is:
high waist to hip ratio
high triglycerides
low HDL cholesterol
High blood pressure
Type II diabetes.

I now have all but the last one, and am prediabetic, so the wolf is at the door.....don't let this happen to you. The number one thing you can do today to stop it is to eliminate simple carbs from your life.
