Default Warning, this is a stool question.

Hope this is the right place for this question, and sorry about the graphic details. I was wondering what it means when you see undigested food in your stool. More specificaly, with in 24 hours of consumption, I have seen pieces of red pepper, carrot, and long grain brown rice in my stool. Does this mean my body is not breaking these down properly to obtain the proper nutrition? Does this seem to quick for food to be making it all the way though? The rest of the stool seems to have a healthy color and consistency.

LMAOROF

That is normal. Your body does not digest fibrous food to a large extent. You are fine.

In all seriousness, there are a group of CIA agents whose responsibility it is, is to get stool samples or world leaders so doctors can see what there health condition is.

Nope, 24 hours doesn't seem too quick, it takes between 24 and 72 hours.

Figure on 8 hours for food to go through the stomach & small intestine, then through the large intestine for more digesting & water absorption. Elimination through the large intestine usually begins after of 24 hours & can take several days. Be glad you're a quick 'mover' as there's less chance of formation of toxins in your intestines

Not to get crude, but eat a bunch of corn (organic preferably) and see how fast it takes.

Yeah, corn would be the thing to eat for an experiment of this nature.

You're a smart cookie, saved

Hi jofus! You did put it in the nutrition forum, but that's more for food, beverages, additives, etc. I moved your post into general discussions, because it was more related to bowel movements, digestion, etc.

I think it's normal to see pieces of undigested or partially digested food in the stool at times, depending what was eaten. Some people may pass it through their system in the same day, others the next day. I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary.

I never even noticed things like that until years ago when I did a couple of cleanses, including parasite cleanse. They have you looking for all kinds of things when you take those products, LOL. I was kind of dissappointed though, didn't see anything creepy at all.

Might as well add humor to this: Jofus, drink some beet juice. You will be well assured of your transit time.

Seeing chunks of undigested food can mean your digestive system is not working properly, but it also is easily corrected.

Chew your food more thoroughly. It is the first part of the digestion process, and easily overlooked.

Since I have Crohn's Disease, I find myself examining stool out of necessity. I have not spotted any spare change yet.
