Default Hearing Loss Prevention

"In a new study in animals, University of Michigan researchers report that a combination of high doses of vitamins A, C, and E and magnesium, taken one hour before noise exposure and continued as a once-daily treatment for five days, was very effective at preventing permanent noise-induced hearing loss. The animals had prolonged exposure to sounds as loud as a jet engine at take-off at close range."

Morgan,

What I've most often read, in regard to the prevention and improvement of hearing, is the use of powerful antioxidants (like grape seed extract, alpha lipoic) some of the b-vitamins (like the coenzyme from of B12 - methylcobalamin) and substances that improve circulation (niacin, vinpocetine, ginkgo biloba). Also, I believe that acetyl-l-carnitine has generated some interest.

Here's a review of a book that might interest you:

Thanks for that - my daughter was kicked in the head by a young colt a few months ago and her hearing has been deteriorating ever since. Pretty traumatic for a 23 yo. She now has to face the speaker to hear properly - otherwise she only hears mumbling.

She is taking Ambrotose and some vitamin and mineral supplements, as well as fish oil. A shame that CO Q10 is so damn expensive - she has a very limited budget. (I pay for most of the above)

I will forward these links to her.

For trauma injury have you tried homeopathy morgan?

For general decline in hearing I recommend ozone insuflation to the ears. It removes the worst tinnitis quickly, will cause a detox that may take months to get through but when your done your ears will be great. People who do it report tons of junk coming out especially if they had ear infection problems in their long ago history. The detox can be dramatic but eventually it clears. This will also assit to clean sinuses and lymphatic areas in the head and neck. I have had to do it and back off several times. My ears are so much better yet I know Im not done.

Should try it. I only found out the day before yesterday about her hearing loss, and feel dreadful, as it was my colt that double barrelled her. I will have to get her back to our homoeopath/naturopath and see what he can do.

That ozone treatment sounds great - my tinnitus is gradually worsening, and I have had a couple of doozies of ear infections in the past which has led to some hearing loss myself. Will definitely check it out.

Thanks

BTW - can the ozone be used on dogs? Have a dog here with a dreadful chronic ear condition that is barely kept under control with homoeopathy and herbs - and antibiotics and surgery have not helped at all.

If you decide to try ozone be aware that there are powerful protease enzymes that can be taken that will help with the detox symptoms. I've ordered some so I can continue with my treatment but they haven't arrived yet so I can't say how well they work or dont work.

Default High frequency sounds

Try sound therapy for hearing loss treatment and prevention.

Listening to high frequency (more than 10,000 Hz) is supposed to "tone" the ears as well as our brain, leading to decreased need for sleep.

Mozart music is supposed to be rich in high frequencies.

Or you may just produce high frequency sounds using your computer with programs like Brain Wave Generator which you can then play or record. You can download the program (click here) for free. It has some built-in presets for high frequency, but you can up those to 16,000 or higher. Don't use your laptop speakers to listen to such, though. I think I burned one of mine doing that.
