Has anyone ever heard of this plant (herb??) My daughter was checking out a new site called https://www.mountainroseherbs.com and ran across this page https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/learn/kudzu.php It had some interesting reading for us...In the first place, my son has military related hearing loss, and as a police officer, we arent real thrilled with that... would like to try and find him help... and then in the second place, we have a close friend that has genital herpes... so we seem to always be on the lookout for something to help him also.... I found this page https://www.maxshores.com/kudzu/ and down around the bottom of the page, it talks about the possibility of helping with alcoholism, while all the long, talking about how its good for baskets, and to feed goats with and all kinds of goodies, shoot, you can even make jelly out of the stuff! When I was reading Stanlee's thread about kratom, I wondered if maybe this stuff would help him.... Does anyone know anything else about this stuff

In the US southeast, it is a pest. It grows a foot a day. I'm not exaggerating. When I was a child, I use to make caves in it to play. It "strangles" trees too. It grows so much that it shades them completely from the sun. In the countryside, it can be seen "swallowing" old barns. You can't even burn it out. The roots are deep.
The Japanese use it like we use cornstarch. I've been reading of the health benefits also. It's not very expensive; and is really worth it to try.

Hi Jim, yes I did read that it is a weed, and that it is hard to get rid of.... Reminds me of honeysuckle down here in the south, its considered a nuisance, but also has great many uses. I live south of houston, so Im sure the kudzu can grow down here...just need to find some, and figure out how to contain it, so that it doesnt take over my yard. I need to learn how to make baskets, between the kudzu and the honeysuckle and wisteria, I could go into business, and make a fortune!

I think that people won't appreciate you introducing kudzu to your area. It was supposed to be an erosion control for the southeast. Now, it is more difficult to get rid of than bermuda grass.
