As far as I know, nanoparticles are simply small particles consisting of 1 or a few atoms of silver. Ionic silver is a silver atom which is missing an electron, which makes it more reactive to microbes. Most home CS generators produce 80 to 95% ionic silver with the balance being nanosilver.
We're talking about minuscule amounts of silver. When diluted into ground water, I doubt it would even be detectable.
These scientists have an agenda. They're force feeding it in high concentrations, to prove their preconceived notion.
I would bet that infinitely more nano silver and ionic silver is dumped into our landfills via discarded elecronic and photographic products.
Nano is just a buzz-word. CS was nano before nano was cool.
The "invention" of
"BuckyBalls or Fullerenes" was a big deal in 1985 and ushered in the nano craze....then they discovered that common soot consisted of natural carbon buckyballs. Nanotechnology will eventually revolutionize materials technology and there is concern about how such microscopic waste will impact our environment.
