Honestly, no soda is fine to drink.... its really addicting, and too acidic for your body..... the stuff is chemicals~~~~ totally bad!!! Not good for you at all!!!! But being a diet coke addict who cant get off (yes you can get addicted to soda!!!) I would say try to cut back to maybe one a day...even better try one every other day..... The best solution is to get off them totally, it will save your health, and save your wallet!!! Imagine how much money you could save if you put that money you spend on sodas into a piggy bank instead!!!!
As for water, I try to stick with the formula of half your body weight in oz of water a day..... so, if you weight two hundred pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water a day... if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water a day..... others disagree with this formula, but it works best for me..... stay away from fruit juices and from the sports drinks.... they cause more problems then what they are worth!!!!! Your best bet for drinking is water and herbal teas in my opinion.

Default Water/Soda

I agree with Just Me Sodas of any kind are bad for you. If
you don't like just plain water, try adding some lemon or lime
to it for flavoring. Or even some crushed fresh berries. Be
inventive
As to how much, 6 to 8 glasses/cups per day is supposed
to do well. If you do strenuous exercise outside in the heat,
drink more than that, so as not to become dehydrated.

I too agree with the above advice. You should ideally stay away from soda or at least cut back. Particularly diet soda as it causes one to be hungry, which kind of defeats its purpose.

If a person is over weight there is only one reason for this, they are eating the wrong stuff and too much of it. Conversely to lose weight one must eat less. This is the basic idea behind your typical commercial diet plans. They do this by restrict the type of foods you can eat so as to reduce calorie intake. This only works until one gets tired of being on a restrictive boring diet and then go back to their old eating habits.

So if you really want to lose weight and keep it off you must change your eating habits. Do this by eating whatever you want, within reason, but just eat a whole lot less of it. That way you will not go wanting for anything. If you have a taste for some chocolate cake, fine go for it, but just have a thin slice do not devour the entire cake. Have a cookie, not the entire box. Learn to eat slowly, perhaps read something while eating. Saver and enjoy the taste of what you are eating, do not just gulp it down and then quickly look for something more.

This will not cause you to loss weight over night, as some fad diets promise, but in the long run you will be in control of your weight.

yes it is hard... I have some really weird tasting well water. It isnt anything close to the well water I grew up with, has a salty flavor!!! But you can get use to it, add a slice of lemon or lime, or a couple of strawberries. Your body will thank you in the long run.... I keep telling my grandkids, that water drinking helps build muscles, they prefer drinking water to alot of other drinks after they spend any time with me.... But once they get back with mom and she gives them all that other crap, they quit drinking the water.... its more a habit that you get use to I think.

Speaking of sodas, particularly diet sodas.

It's an interesting study. True, it's in rats, so this relationship still has to be proven in humans. But they do note that rats and humans metabolize aspartame in the same way.

Keeping that caution in mind -- it's particularly compelling that aspartame carcinogenicity is significant at doses comparable to what's considered the acceptable daily limit here in the U.S.

AND.....more than 70% of the aspartame market IS FOR SOFT DRINKS! With these rats, the carcinogenic impact of daily aspartame increased quite a bit when their exposure began in utero. When I think of the women who have their daily diet sodas all through their pregnancy.

And aspartame is used in many hundreds of pharmaceutical products, including children's medicines.

The authors also do a very good job of identifying the significant shortcomings of the earlier studies that made aspartame appear safe in this regard.

Speaking of Aspartame it can have some every beneficial health advantages it all depend on how you use it.
For example:
Quote:
Got an Ant Problem? Use Aspartame

For all the dire health problems associated with aspartame -- the worst of them being cancer -- the original "anything-but-sugar" substitute may have an ideal purpose to exist, not as a food additive, but as an ant poison
Already aware of aspartame's origins as a toxic chemical, a health-conscious consumer with an ant problem emptied one packet of aspartame in the corner of each of her bathrooms two years ago. The "sweet" solution worked brilliantly, as she's seen no signs of carpenter ants crawling around for the past year.
Aspartame may be just the thing for getting rid of fire ants (impervious to many poisons) too, although this solution takes a bit more effort. Initially, fire ants ignored their aspartame treat until a light rain moistened it. After the rain, however, the fire ants came back with a vengeance, taking the aspartame back to the mound by the hundreds. Within two days, any evidence that fire ants existed at all, save for an empty mound, vanished.
No mystery aspartame works like a pesticide, as the asparctic acid contained in this toxic product is a well-documented excitotoxin that causes specific brain cells to become excessively excited to the point they quickly die, just as both kinds of ants did.
Makes you wonder if aspartame is a far safer, better alternative to getting rid of lawn and home pests than the average toxic pesticides found at your neighborhood hardware store ...

As far as bad tasting city water that is not particularly uncommon. I have well water that I run through a reverse osmosis unit this give really pure clean drinking water that is free from all strange tastes and smells. However in my area Chicago water, which is considered to be good water, is also accessible.
But people find it strange when I say I can smell the chlorine in it.

Here's the original story including disclaimer at bottom:
Quote:
image for FDA Certifies Aspartame as Ant Poison
Toxic to ants and higher lifeforms

WASHINGTON (AP)-The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has certified the popular sweetener aspartame, also known as NutraSweet, as an ant poison.

"Aspartame was originally developed as an ant poison and it was only changed to being non-poisonous after it was realized that a lot more money could be made on it as a sweetener," said FDA chief Ralph Roachman. "We are just notifying the public and industry about the original and best use of this stuff."

He continued, "That crap kills ants dead. It works on carpenter ants, silverfish, roaches, and almost anything in fact. You just gotta open a coupla packets of aspartame sweetener and dump them in a corner of each of the rooms with the infestation. It works better than the most deadly poisons we have tried. Any time they show up again, simply dump another package of NutraSweet in a corner, and they will be gone for a year or so."

The FDA found that certain types of insects like small black ants will not eat the aspartame, but scientists determined that if you mix it with apple juice, they would quickly take it back to the nest, and "all would be dead within 24 hours."

Aspartame is also effective against fire ants, but the poison may not work until it is lightly sprinkled with a light rain or a garden hose, with just enough water so as to not wash it away.

One FDA technician observed, "After I wetted the NutraSweet the fire ants went crazy with hundreds of them grabbing it and taking it back into their mound. When I checked the mound 2 days later, there was no sign of the fire ants. I even dug the mound up some, and still saw none of them."

FDA scientists know that aspartame is a neuropoison which kills ants by disrupting their nervous system and their hearts and their senses.

"Ants start acting weird, they begin fighting and having wars, and they end up dying," noted an FDA research paper.

An FDA consumer guide on the use of the poison recommends wearing gloves and washing any skin areas that come in contact with it since it is so toxic, and avoid getting it in your mouth, despite what consumer labeling may indicate.

Aspartame is also effective against other insects such as yellow jackets, wasps, praying mantises, and certain other higher lifeforms.
The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
