Default Child's Asthma

A child of my friend is 3 years old. He has been breathing heavily since one week ago, this has happened once one month ago, he was recovered in about 3 days. This is the second time, the doctor said it would be diagnosed as asthma if it happens 3 times. But doctor can't do much about it, he guess it could be because of some kind of allergy. The families of my friend and her husband have no such case.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Kevin, is your friend able to take the child to a practitioner of Traditionaol Chinese Medicine? A natural approach to this problem is far preferable to a lifetime of drugs such as prednisolone and broncho-dilators, which harm health in many other ways even as they give symptomatic relief to the breathing.
If not TCM, then maybe a naturopathic practitioner could help? I would think it important to have the guidance of someone who is properly trained in a therapy, rather than do the "Let's try this food, now try that supplement" thing, which many parents do.
I hope others here can give more suggestions too.

Thanks for your reply, Jo.

My friend visited two big hospitals but hasn't tried Chinese Medicine, I suggested it today. I also prefer natural approach.

We have the same problem over here..... My girl was diagnosed with asthma along long time ago.... Normally when it gets bad, they admit her into the hospital, because it usually will turn into bronchitis..... So I tried a different approach this time..... This time, I increased her vitamin c, and started giving her a bcomplex..... I then pulled out the nebulizer, and put colloidal silver in the machine instead of abuterol... (which will normally hyperactivate kids.. make them jittery.. but with my girl it does the exact opposite... it puts her in such a deep sleep, that we cant wake her not even to feed her or get liquids down her... so I try really hard to stay away from that)..... I called my pharmacist who works with homeopathics, and asked if he had a homeopathic remedy that would help me... and fortunately he did.... the bottle is from a company called natural creations, and is called asthma hp.... ingredients list is too small for me to read....Im sorry!!!!! but maybe you can find the company on the internet.... Also, I know this might sound dumb.... but Im gonna tell you my story anyway.... Years ago, when all my kids were babies, I had a very close friend and her two boys over to visit one day.... one of the kids, and I honestly dont remember if it was mine or hers... started having a severe croup attack coughing and having a really hard time breathing.... We had no vehicle, so couldnt take him to a hospital... and poor as we all were, couldnt afford an ambulance... so we just did what we knew.... turned the shower on in the bathroom with hot water and locked myself in there with the baby..... Well, my friend was praying, and she felt led to read a certain verse in the bible.... the verse was one she had never seen before, and I honestly dont know where it was at... the verse said something about people perishing for a lack of salt..... So we took this literally..... We put 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a warm juice bottle and gave it to the baby to drink...... and the baby was fine within an hours time..... Now, I dont know if it was the salt or the hot water, or a mix of both or even if it was a miracle... All I know, is that ever since that happened, everytime one of my kids had a problem with congestion or athma or anything like that... I would give them a bottle or glass of salt water..... And I did this for my girl.....So, I dont know if it was the upping of the vitamins, or the colloidal silver or the salt water or the homeopathic... but I figure if it takes all of them to keep her out of the hospital, then that works for me... I usually try to throw everything I can at a problem, instead of just one thing at a time.... the only problem being, that I dont know which one actually worked the best..... Another thing I learned along time ago, is if he starts having an asthma attack and you dont have any help... try getting him to drink some day old hot black coffee.... Im sure for a three year old, that will be a hard trick, but there is something about the old (stress the old) hot coffee that opens the bronchial tubes to help them breathe better...

Kevin, most asthma is the result of allergy. Finding the allergy and eliminate it from the environment will be a good start.

You should look at plants, food, chemicals, perfumes, animals, soaps, etc.

This will buy time. I agree with Xania about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. This will be one of the best choices

And of course there is homeoapthy. A visit to a classical homeopath is required. A complete cure is possible. Until that time a combo remedy by Heel called Tartaphedreel will work wonders and should be carried with her at all times. I have seen it swiftly end many an asthma attack. Any healthfood store that sells Heel products can special order it for you and most healthfood stores sell them, like Traumeel.

I do also recommed that this child have drug inhaler like a ventolin inhaler or Combivent (ventolin and atrovent). Yes, drug inhaler! Asthma can be life threatening. You never know how an attack will go, mild or severe and it can change in a split second. I recommed that she carry the inhaler but use it only if the homeopathic Tartaphedreel fails. I have not seen it fail but you must always be prepared for the worst. I have known people who have died from asthma attacks, so don't mess around.

I am sure that eventually this can be overcome with good alternative care. I had a friend with allegy and asthma. He was on allergy shots several times a month. He managed to get off them with homeopathy, and the asthma went away too.

I hope it's not another case of hygiene disease.

If so, exposure to more "dirt" could be part of the solution.

When my second child was "about to be" diagnosed asthma in her pre school years almost two decades ago by doctors who just rely on symptomatic drugs, I simply gave her vitamin E and vitamin B-complex. No more problems!

I now know magnesium could have helped as well, but none of my kids now show asthma, so I have no way of testing.

I think allergies are simply overactivity of one component of the immune system. Balance the immune system with glyconutrients (mushrooms, lactobacilli, brewer's yeast, aloe vera inner gel, coconut). I would think such balancing would also be behind TCM approach.

Default Helpful information for asthma

Asthma is a lung disorder in which spasms and inflammation of the bronchial passages restrict the flow of air in and out of the lungs. A wide variety of chemicals have been linked to an increased risk of asthma. Findings from animal and human studies confirm that DTP and tetanus vaccinations can induce allergic responses and can increase the risk of allergies, including allergic asthma.

Dr Balch's nutritional team has created a formula designed to support the control of asthmatic episodes and help the body's natural processes of prevention. Flax Seed Powder contains essential fatty acids necessary for the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. Magnesium may have positive effects on the bronchial response of asthmatics. Vitamin C has been shown to help relieve allergy symptoms and reduce the tendency to bronchial spasms. Astragalus Extract is a natural herb that is believed to promote lung health. Antioxidant helps improve immunity and protect the lungs from free radical damage. Vitamin B Complex 50, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 are thought to be important nutrients that are beneficial for reducing asthmatic episodes. N-Acetyl L-Cysteine and Cordyceps may ease the severity of asthma symptoms by lessening mucus secretions. Quercetin has anti-inflammatory effects.
