Server Move

Recently my hosting provider planned a forced server move, I decided to switch to a different provider. I have finished the transfer, I made some errors and caused a few hours unexpected down-time, but there is no data loss.

Besides the forced server move, they also raised the price two times recently, as a result, I had to pay 40% higher for a 4-year old server. Raising price is very unusual for web hosting, many of their customers have left due to the last price hike, but they seem to enjoy bothering the loyal customers.

If you find anything wrong (something doesn't work like before), please let me know.

The server is new, better and cheaper, I should have done this earlier, if migrating dozens of websites doesn't kill me.

Sure, this forum will stay for decades, as long as I can use a computer.

The speed seems back to normal. Anyone feel it's slower than before? The new server has a faster CPU.

I moved to a new server again, it's often extremely slow to visit the websites from my place...it's killing me . The transfer has finished, everything seems fine so far.

Does this mean that I might be able to get email notices again when someone posts a comment to my thread?? Sure hope so!

nightowl: Yes, it's possible. But it's also possible some working emails can't get email with this new server.

Edit: Just checked the system log, no error message for sending to comcast account, you should have received the email for this thread.

I'm glad that the move also solved an email problem. I did the move specially for myself, I asked many people about the speed, everyone said it's fast, but viewing a page often took me forever (real forever), which really drove me crazy.
