search word length

Kevin, could you make the search word minimum length 3 instead of 4?

The reason is I can't do a search for MMS without getting an error. mms* only gives me 7 results, those posts with MMS and a word ending (like MMSE).

Since MMS is one of the main topics on this forum, I think this would help people look up information on MMS.

Sorry, I don't think it can be changed. And that's why I added the Google search. You can't use it to 'search in this thread' though.

if you are using the Vbulletin search, then you can change the minimum characters in search. If you are using the full text search, then this used the MYSQL minimum character length.. and I am assuming this is on a shared host?

anyway, for a forum this size.. why don't you use the VB search?

This forum is running on a dedicated server, performance is not a big concern at the moment. I can change the minimum length, but after some research, the current search features seem the best solution to me. The only drawback is the minimum length, but it can be accomplished pretty well with the Google search. As the forum grows, the advantages are only getting bigger.
